Pornhub will block access for Floridians on Jan. 1 - Restrictions will take place in protest of the state's new age verification requirements.

Restrictions will take place in protest of the state's new age verification requirements.

No one in Florida will be able to access Pornhub, the most trafficked pornography website worldwide, as of Jan. 1.

Officials with Aylo, the parent company to the pornography site, confirmed it will deny access for all users in the state. An email from the company made clear the restriction will happen in protest of new age verification requirements imposed by a state law (HB 3) going into effect in 2025.

“Unfortunately, the way many jurisdictions worldwide, including Florida, have chosen to implement age verification is ineffective, haphazard and dangerous,” reads an email from Aylo. “Any regulations that require hundreds of thousands of adult sites to collect significant amounts of highly sensitive personal information is putting user safety in jeopardy. Moreover, as experience has demonstrated, unless properly enforced, users will simply access non-compliant sites or find other methods of evading these laws.”

The new statute imposes age verification requirements on pornography websites and any other publishers of content known to be “harmful to minors.”

Lawmakers scoffed at the web publisher’s tactic.

“The fact that they’ve chosen to shut down instead complying to ensure that children aren’t accessing their site tells us exactly who their real target audience is,” said state Rep. Chase Tramont, a Port Orange Republican and the prime sponsor for the age verification bill passed this year.

“To be clear, Aylo has publicly supported age verification of users for years,” the email reads, “but we believe that any law to this effect must preserve user safety and privacy, and must effectively protect children from accessing content intended for adults.”

Pornography sites have previously restricted access to content in protest of similar laws. Aylo noted that Pornhub has also tried to comply with laws in other states only to see users in those jurisdictions flock to less reputable sources for titillation.

“We have seen how this scenario plays out in the United States. In Louisiana last year, Pornhub was one of the few sites to comply with the new law,” Aylo’s email reads. “Since then, our traffic in Louisiana dropped approximately 80%. These people did not stop looking for porn. They just migrated to darker corners of the internet that don’t ask users to verify age, that don’t follow the law, that don’t take user safety seriously, and that often don’t even moderate content. In practice, the laws have just made the internet more dangerous for adults and children.”

Aylo reiterated a position it held as Florida’s law was being debated, that age verification requirements should occur at the device-level, such as requirements for smartphone manufacturers to limit access.

“The best solution to make the internet safer, preserve user privacy, and prevent children from accessing adult content is performing age verification at the source: on the device,” the Aylo email reads.

“The technology to accomplish this exists today. What is required is the political and social will to make it happen. We are eager to be part of this solution and are happy to collaborate with government, civil society and tech partners to arrive at an effective device-based age verification solution. In addition, many devices already offer free and easy-to-use parental control features that can prevent children from accessing adult content without risking the disclosure of sensitive user data.”

Oh no, my porn!!!!!!!!!!

Don't care anymore. I'm well aware of this being a backdoor for internet censorship but I just don't care anymore. Whenever any other wrong thought was targeted no one gave a fuck but now that it's the precious porn I'm suppose to do free labor to protect their rights after they go out of their way to mock and belittle anything considered right wing and/or Christian?

Enjoy the bed you made.
Will you still not care when they eventually use the law on this website and forces anyone who opens Kiwifarms to verify their age with their ID?

Pornhub as a company should be punished by the government, not make a law to allow the government to use IDs to use certain websites.

All of you retards in this thread supporting this are the most smoothed brain Kiwis I have seen on this platform.
Amazing how it never occurs to you that they will expand this to other websites, especially the one we're on.

All it takes is basic-bitch parental control software, along with blocking discord, and the kids can't access shit. Bonus feature: A&N suddenly becomes tolerable as all the teenage edgelords and sharty tourists can no longer access the site.

But no, even this minimal amount of effort is too much. Best get the government to deal with it instead. They know better than us what's good for us, after all. We are but the wards of the state.

I love this concept of "only adults should have access to the Internet" as if that isn't most of the reason the lolcows are lolcows, way easier to archive and mock their bullshit and have no sympathy when it's some 19 year old demanding you take it off the Internet NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW

It's different when it's kids and because they're used to culture by the time they're adults they're not as weird. Look at our block lands boy as an example.

If you notice the average age of our lolcows is 40+ with the amount of cows born in the 2000s being near non-existent. ED was almost exclusively documenting teens and people in their 20s.

By all accounts most anti- porn nonsense is from weirdo adults with misgivings about their own gooning past or obnoxious adults who think their kids are retarded or overly worried adults who can't figure out 2nd hand consequences

>Implying that their hasn't been a long campaign to get KF down as the greater internet supports it because mean words

This is what I mean. They don't care when its happening else where but when its the precious porn then it becomes the most critical issue ever. I'm not doing free labor for an industry that has no problem with it happening to someone else. This is what the majority indirectly chose, so they can enjoy the ramifications of it.

Its similar to the video game industry. I remember when Jack Thompson and Congress were the biggest threat to censoring video games. All us gamer (GAMERS!) were against it and did the usual internet activism shit of supporting the industry to make sure it didnt happen. Then when GG and DEI shit happened the same industry we supported had no problem throwing us under the bus.

Edit; really many industries went like this. (American library associations) We are against censoring books. Oh it has wrong thoughts in it? Better remove them. (Amazon and its like) Retailers should be allowed to sell what they want. Oh its being sold to people we don't like, better remove it. (Spotify) All music should be allowed. Oh it had thoughts we don't like better remove it. (Youtube) Can't do much about predditors and groomers, but a nazi documentary? Better remove it. (Twitter) Can't do anything about doxing and groomers, but off color joke? Better remove it, Etc.

People only care because muh porn.

modern americans are increasingly unable to project effects from causes and see every event as an isolated island divorced from all context. so ofc the based people who hate pornhub will support a creeping expansion of the surveillance state to shut it down, it could never be used against them, right? laws targeting pornhub are just there to establish the infrastructure that allows the state to directly see who is viewing and posting what on the internet.

Sort of like when Pornhub was in support of the lockdowns and mandate that help the expansion of the surveillance apparatus?

edit: you are running interference for the same company that had a child porn problem and their solution was don't tell the police, tell us! how many times were they told they need to clean up how they handle kids viewing their material and then you get "experts" saying its good because it helps kids find out their sexual identity (grooming)

people would use vpns to do this instead. you gooner faggot
And has it never occured to you that in a scenario where other states decide to apply this law and realize people are using VPNs to bypass this ban, they are going to start outlawing VPNs or requiring people to use ID to

How does my post imply that there hasn't been a campaign to get KF down? I am well aware of that which is why I'm against this new law because knowing that Kiwifarms is already being targeted, it will be amongst the first websites targeted by this law after porn.

Also, nobody is doing free labor for any "industry" regardless of porn going away or not. The Kiwis here who do not have our head in the sand don't want this law to eventually come after Kiwifarms.

If anything, I would prefer they just outright ban porn but still keep Kiwifarms up, but they're not going to do that. They want to use this law to come after actual dissident websites after porn.

this isn't about saving any "industry" this is about saving the other websites that will be affected by this.

None of us are interested in helping Pornhub as a company, we are interested in keeping this stupid law passing and getting worse.
It's already happening through other means that no one gave a shit about. Do you throw a fit over Haig to show Id at a brick and mortar porn shop?

They had plenty of chances and opportunities to police themselves that they didn't bother doing. It's their own fault it got this state

No because those individual companies are not keeping a secret database of just your ID that you show for the records that the government is forcing them to keep.
Half the time, they don't even ask for your ID if you look old enough. The websites will ask everytime and they will force you to keep. Would you be fine to hand over your ID just to access Kiwifarms?

What part of we don't care about Pornhub do you not understand? We are worried about this law being applied to other websites besides porn. I even said before that the government should just outright go after and shutdown Pornhub rather than applying this law that will be expanded to other sites.
Not just that, it's not like they're even doing to do anything else about Pornhub besides make it require your ID. They're not going to shut it down or legally go after it in any meaningful way. They're just gonna require it to require ID from visitors because they want to increase surveillance.

Look, I know that the government doesn't actually care about 'muh keedz' given that half of them fuck kids, but let's set some things straight here.
Pornography is quite literally one of the most evil industries on the planet and many times is a cover for even more evil industries. It's an industrial pipeline wherein Mr. Shekleberg can sell the bodies of women and men as entertainment. Behind that already disgusting industry is an even more disgusting industry where the bodies of women, men, girls, and boys are sold as property. So already, pretty bad scene.
I’m not even going to get into the addictive and destructive aspects of pornography, especially when it comes to what happens to kids when inundated with it from pretty much the moment they can figure out a search engine or join a Discord. Just look at the troon section of the Farms, it’s self evident at this point that porn’s not exactly healthy.
But the main issue is that it’s fighting a hydra, there is as of yet no correct answer to what the hell we should do about this. ID would be ineffective because that’s easy as hell to get around, criminalizing porn also wouldn’t work because good fucking luck eradicating that market, and legal action is a pipedream in most cases because again good fucking luck fighting an industry with billions of dollars.
In short, shit’s fucked over there and there’s not really a solution that could be implemented to get the desired result.

And has it never occured to you that in a scenario where other states decide to apply this law and realize people are using VPNs to bypass this ban, they are going to start outlawing VPNs or requiring people to use ID to

This is something that doesn't get talked about at all but should.. The moment you pass laws legally restricting or regulating access to something online, is the moment VPNs and any tool that can circumvent or generally bypass those restrictions, instantly becomes the business of the government.. full stop! Not just legally, but also in terms of pompous politicians and DAs looking to make a name for themselves. Day one of these kinds of laws ensure that day two see VPNs become public enemy number one.

this is just the equivalent of stores being required to check ID to see if you're 21+. pornhub wants to show porn to minors so they refuse to do any ID checking
Pornhub wants to retain users, and making it so that you have to provide ID will immediately drive everyone to other sites that don't. It's not that there is some conspiracy to show porn to minors.

Tbf, that can't be it because all porn sites will be affected.

No. It wouldn't. Not just for requiring an ID for age verification in select states. The idea that it would be enforceable against all porn sites, without further measures, is not realistic. As with anything having to do with restricting access to content online, there are questions of enforcement. Pornhub tries to be in good legal standing, and is a reputable platform compared to other streaming sites. You've seen Pornhub engage in mass purging of content, and comply with law enforcement. Other sites are far more reluctant to do so. The state of Florida does not have the time or resources to litigate against or prosecute every platform that doesn't require age verification. They are protesting this legislation primarily because it is a legitimate threat to their business interests.
