This point should be constantly talked about. It's extremely difficult for a civil war to be even mostly the result of foreign meddling, especially if the country doing it is on the opposite side of the globe. Coups sure, but those aren't protracted and very bloody conflicts so are a whole different beast. If Gaddafi and Assad weren't such shitty leaders that enough of their citizens became so sick of seeing them that they will took up arms and were numerous enough that they become a legitimate threat to their governments, then no intervention by NATO would have happened in the first place.

It matters when one is a NATO ally controlling all access from the Med to the Black Sea, which was heavily destabilized by needing to take in millions of Arabs since it was a monoethnic state which had eradicated all its indigenous non-Kurdish minorities almost a century prior. This is an extremely good development for Erdogan. He can now use a Syrian Interim Government effectively tied to his own power to invade and crush the Kurdish separatist state that has been (theoretically) running guns to the PKK the past decade or so. He doesn't give a shit about Iraqi Kurdistan because the Barzanis are chummy with him, whereas Rojava is a pseudo-Marxist state with explicit connections to broader Kurdish nationalism. Rojava will either capitulate to the broader rebel coalition and disarm themselves for regional autonomy or they will get obliterated by the new Syrian government and its Turkish "greatest ally", and the Civil War which has been an open sore creating manifold problems for him will be 100% over. All the criticism about sending the Turkish army into a foreign country will be done with, as will the refugee crisis. They can begin deporting the Syrians back home, the economy will improve without all the dead weight, etc.

TL;DR Massive win for Turkey, and massive win for its shitty government.

HTS has begun setting up the new government in Damascus, starting by replacing Assad's last appointed Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali (who remained in the country to formally hand over power to the rebels) with Mohammad al-Bashir. (Archive) This Al-Bashir appears to be an Islamist technocrat rather than a fighter, an engineer by trade who was formerly employed by the Syrian Gas Company and who was also previously a minister in & then the PM of the civilian half of HTS' government in Idlib. According to his new Wiki article, Al-Bashir rose to become the manager of his department at that gas company and got a degree in Sharia Law in addition to (electrical) engineering and project management/organization; as far as I've seen, no source has reported that he ever actually fought for HTS with a gun in the past.

Who wasn't supplying Kurds at this point? They're just fodder that different sides been pushing at each other this entire conflict. Thinking that US, Russia, Jews, Iran and whoever out there would actually care about the Kurds despite supplying them is delusional. US (member of NATO) directly supported Kurds, but despite that Turkey (member of NATO) was massacring them relentlessly. Yes, I recall these reports about Russia constantly bombing hospitals in Syria. Somehow Russia only had bombed hospitals and that way drove out ISIS. Some fucking miracle? Dunno you tell me. Another miracle is that even the honorary consulate of Syria in St. Petersburg has changed it's flag to the current government's and didn't leave Russia. After all these massacres, bombed hospitals and other horrors of the ruski scourge, it seems that the new Syrian government is still planning to have some dialogue with the Russians. I won't be surprised that the new government will be still talking to Russia despite all that. Why? Not sure either. Maybe because arabs will kill each other for less and remember their casualties only when it's convenient.

Turkey and Russia relations been an extreme back and forth and it isn't wild to assume that Erdogan would want Russian help with the new challenges in the region. The two sides obviously planned this out and talked it out, it wasn't just a sudden reaction to the news they woke up to. Despite all the trillion hospitals bombed, the rebels barely even touched the region where Russians were and they were allowed to pull back and eventually leave. Arabs are ready to massacre eachother over lofty goals, so presuming that they'd care about the gorillion different hospitals Russians bombed over and over is the actual cope here. It's obvious that if Russians were to remain in the region, they'd have to work with Turkey one way or another. Working with Turkey would mean: fucking off or helping them clean the rest of the region. They weren't in a particular hurry either, so if the equipment is left then it is very likely to be a trade of sorts (which isn't anything since new US conveniently left equipment for ISIS before). Out of Kurds, US, Jews and so forth, Russia chose the lesser evil in form of Turkey.

Just stop huffing your own farts for once and look at the situation with a sober mind. The amount of posturing you do and this constant concern trolling for arabs who will rape and kill each other over an insignificant disagreement is fucking pathetic.
