Boss Baby

Aw man, that looked so cool too. Between that and the Popeye movie getting cancelled, I've lost a lot of faith in animation studios.
I've lost faith a long time ago.

My Shadow and Me, starring Milo Stewart.
Ironically after letting Dindal ago, they rebooted the film again, this time getting the director of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" involved, so it was obviously being tweaked into something else before calling it quits.

But seriously this movie is about as groan-worthy as half the CGI animated schlock that comes out every damn year. DreamWorks are just one of those schlock-machines, what with films like Puss in Boots 2 and fucking Madagascar 4 and Shrek 5 currently in development.

Cash cow films with no actual thought put into them. And when there's an original idea, it's some retarded shit like fucking Boss Baby or Trolls.

Which makes the cancellation of "Me and My Shadow" feel like the final nail in the coffin just before the NBC Universal and Comcast mergers.

stephen merchant?

but honestly, this movie, the way it looks. it's just bland
it has the typical CG trying too hard to be stretchy squashy with soft round edges and soft smooth skin
companies need to start making CG that looks different

The real problem CG has is a rather odd balance between realism and abstract. There not a real solution to this as long as companies feel they could have it both ways. Either they go the route similar to traditional/stop-motion animation or they pine for a live-action approach.

Reminded of a review for the 2013 Captain Harlock film that reminded me why I usually never care to see stuff like this.

We could've had this instead from Dreamworks, but it was not to be. :-(

Apparently, the director of Cats Don't Dance and Emperor's New Groove was going to direct this.

There used to be a brief test clip of this film on YouTube but Comcast/NBC Universal decided we can't have fun and put a stop to it. :(

The poster alone gives me feels.

Dreamworks does a lot of weird experimental stuff, but not in the fun and interesting way, in the way where they throw any shit at the wall and hope it sticks.

I'll admit, I think Home and Trolls are fine kids' films, and I like Penguins of Madagascar if only because Dave the Octopus is fun to watch. Boss Baby, despite it being (loosely) based off an award-winning book, is probably going to be DreamWorks' throw-away movie to make way for Captain Underpants this summer and to fill up a spot in March. I'm still going to see it since I want to try to support DreamWorks until they finish HTTYD 3 and any other Kung Fu Panda films they may be making, but I don't have high expectations for this one. You can sense the desperation they've been having since Steve Jobs died, and it's really sad to see one of the big guys in the animation industry struggling like this while Illumination Entertainment and Blue Sky are climbing all over it.

As much bank as he makes on them, how many more "coffee is for closers" parodies can Alec Baldwin stomach before going postal?

Última edición:
At the start of that first trailer, where the kid's complaining about the baby taking over, I was actually optimistic. Like Dreamworks had seen the critical success of Pixar and decided to similarly make a film based around real humanity rather than cheap laughs and 15-year-old pop hits. Then they had the bit with the kid pointing out that the baby wears a suit! Isn't that just so wacky?! What crazy thing will happen next?!! And it was all downhill from there.

In fairness, it doesn't look like the worst kids' film Baldwin's done. Check out Thomas and the Magic Railroad sometime.

actually don't.

Welp, there goes my childhood. Again.

But yeah, this movie does look pretty stupid. But nothing all that noteworthy though. I'm sure people will forget about it not long after its initial release.
