Roblox Community / Roblox Drama / $RBLX - The children's game that ABC 7 compares to leaving your child unattended in a mall.

ROBLOX was so kino during it's heyday. It really is a tragedy how we went from this:

What did this innocent blocky sandbox do to deserve this? And more importantly, why has God abandoned us?
i'm more confused on why they decided to push their autistic femslop into roblox, out of all games.
the characters look generally unattractive and unrealistic, they have to buy femslop items, and not to mention that partaking in these activities on a children's game will just get you humiliated and potentially hunted.

why not other shitholes like vrchat? they don't have to pay to dress up, there are people who are equally deranged as them, and there's little to no moderation on there.

out of all games to push femslop into, why roblox?

Last time I played minecraft a disproportionate amount of players had an egirl skin on. Long hair pastel shit with anime eyes, hundred times worse quality than what you can cook in roblox. My 10 gorillion IQ explanation is the amount of faggy avatars correlates with that given community's autism levels. There was a big study demonstrating an overlap between autism and gender dysphoria or some shit.

vrchat has no gameplay however, and roblox's moderation is nonexistent anyway.

The very upsetting answer I don't think you want to hear: a lot of younger kids today are genuinely pornsick. Either by discovering it later by 13 to 14 or getting left on autoplay in youtube kids on an ipad. It's not really a roblox-specific thing, whether it's the widespread knowledge and availability of porn sites like rule34, the awful elsagate/finger family stuff in kids channels, or just general exposure to situations they should not be in through discord by older predators.

Stuff like this made me realize how rare it is, or at least feels, to see normal avatars. It's rare to see avatars that look stuck in the 2010s. You just have to look around, yes, but it's admittedly harder than I previously imagined. Most avatars are either furries, pornbait, "I just bought anything from the ugc" avatars, memes, OD avatars, or someone's hyperfixation (i.e. Regretevator/Phighting/Pressure cosplay outfit).

Nothing wrong with (most) of these (excluding pornbait and OD avatars cause those deserve to be thrown to the living sun), but man... I don't need to jump through countless games just to find an avatar that doesn't look current year.

Maybe my younger sibling leaving Roblox a few years ago (got bored of it) was a good thing on their end. They were a minor at the time too, so they dodged a pretty large bullet from having to see what Roblox has become.

As a 2010 vet, what's crazy is I'm starting to see tiktok videos of kids being nostalgic for roblox........in 2015. The crazy part being that I understand and even feel nostalgic for that era myself. The sad part is this game has been in my life for this damn long.
It does amuse me that these videos usually put a vhs filter over the 2015 footage.

I can definitely vouch for the Elsagate/YouTube kids shit, I've seen the kind of weird violent and sexual stuff (usually of an extremely fetishist nature) you can find in that side of youtube thanks to young family members and the like, lots of stuff obviously made by perverts who want to groom children, it's toned down enough to the point where the content isn't fully pornographic and won't get taken down inmediately but at the same time it shows enough to start messing with the child, and any adult should be able to notice the obvious weird undertones most of this content has, it's horrifying, especially since it's making a comeback recently.

I've been around since 08', so I know the feeling. I don't blame them for getting nostalgic for the mid-2010s. I think the mid-to-late-2010s were my most memorable times with Roblox despite being around in the late 2000s. The fact 2015's almost a decade old does evoke some merit of feeling.

Nostalgia's stupid sometimes but when it comes to Roblox, a game that you've played more than any other game in your life and a game that you've never felt compelled to distance yourself from—no matter how terrible it becomes—turns into something like... all of what we've documented about it and what we've seen outside of it... can be a bit hard to accept sometimes. But that's the nature of games meant for kids. It'll turn into a gooner's or diddler's paradise eventually. Mostly a diddler's paradise.

Man.

It's interesting to reflect on how corporate Roblox was from nearly the beginning. They scored the skateboard deal with Disney sometime in 2009 and the Lego hero factory collaboration sometime in late 2010, and despite that the game had a lot of soul until Devex extended the desire to sell out to the game creators.

tldr: Corporations need to make money to survive and often don't care if kids get exploited financially or sexually in the process

pedophile's paradise. i'd be a miracle if roblox was fucking shut down for good and ended this online pedophile ring forever. Not only is it pedo haven, the fucking game doesn't even let you obtain a daily F2P currency anymore, its all pay to win/gain now.

One thing I really miss about old Roblox are those sandbox builder games using the old build tools and blocky voxel terrain. Sure you could do more in studio, sure you were probably gonna get your shit griefed, but that was all part of the fun. Trying your hardest to build an impenetrable underground lair with the limited build tools, making new friends and enemies in the process, and overall just having a great time.

also the original le bote was absolute PEAK, submarinechads stay winning

I've seen some videos reminiscing over 2017. To be fair, I don't think Roblox ever had a "peak". As someone who played since 2015, I always considered the game a fun little distraction and a way to play with friends who didn't own the same games as me, and nothing more. I do feel like all the stuff that we're looking at now was simply just hidden, since pedophiles have been on the platform since 2015 from what I remember (and maybe earlier). Fun fact: Ruben Sim's video about "R-Thots" is 7 years old. It could be that we were just simply too ignorant at that time to pay attention to all the bad stuff that was happening behind closed doors. Maybe not.

ugc's introduction was 9/11 for Roblox, and i will not be convinced otherwise

Nah, those games were pretty fun too but I'm talking more about the old personal build servers system. They came with a set of tools that weren't quite like the real old classic tools, instead letting you place and edit premade blocks and items (plus edit the classic voxel terrain)

Thing is, ROBLOX has been on a downward spiral for a very long time; it's just gotten exponentially worse since 2020 which was the catalyst for the creation of this Community Watch thread. 2006-2012 was the golden age, 2013-2015 was the silver age, 2016 was the bronze age, and everything after that has been the dreaded dark ages.

...it was all downhill after Erik Cassel died in 2013.

Within the last day or so, an ever-elusive Halloween event started:

In the days prior, with residual positivity around the "Classic Hunt" earlier this year being okay and rising hype around new "proper" event items (including retextures—not remakes, actual retextures!—of classic hats), there were hopes that "The Haunt" would be decent:
confirmed event items.png
In retrospect, the cursed camera accessory was a sign of things to come. It's wack.

All it is is "join one of these arbitrarily-specified games wearing an at-least-vaguely spooky outfit and take a screenshot with this new in-game screenshot tool we're clearly still beta testing". The used phrasing is "costume contest", but it barely feels like one, and the majority of the contest submissions don't even understand the assignment.
All but helenaayi's submission are of pre-existing monsters from the participating games, making that user a daily winner by default.

Mostly-complete list of the participating games:

Note Pressure being here even with the game's youth. This is relevant later.

And the event items? At best, you can waste your time hopping from profile to profile of admins giving out the smashed pumpkins just to get stuck in server queue trying to join them. At worst, well, the price of A Darker Presence is right there—but what about the first Sinister retexture in a good while?
this was hyped as an event reward btw.jpeg
Yeah.

As a closer, here's something fairly sad:
US:HD, the group behind Pressure, opted in as a Haunt participant some time in advance. They made a dedicated sub-game anticipating The Haunt to be a "dev hunt"—in present terms, a real Roblox event—only to learn days before it began that the entire sub-game wasn't necessary.

When I say "dedicated sub-game", I mean they made a whole new half-length version of their base game, themed it for the scary season, gave it a new story, setting, and enemy types, made new music for it, recorded unique voice lines for it, gave it its own sub-lobby that you have to go to to play it—just to learn very belatedly that all of that effort was a waste because, unbeknownst to them, it's not what was being asked for.

So it was released two days in advance of The Haunt itself, and upon the event starting this plaque appeared:
haunt placard (full).png
(This was taken from a tweet circulating around about developer mistreatment, but the tweet itself seems to be gone?)

And on Xitter, a thread appeared:
zeal on the haunt.png
(Zeal's thread. He quotes MaximumADHD at the beginning, but the quoted tweet seems to be gone.)

He has a few additional tweets talking about it, but this is the meatiest of them. Even with past drama covered in mind, this just sucks. The discrepancy between what the player base and the developers that rise from it wants and what Roblox corp. wants is so clear-cut it's not funny, and you just know the latter will continue to not listen.

You know what is funny, though?

A Scottish skeleton trying to beat your skeleton out of you because having your skin on is a dress-code violation for a bonehead bash.
