Here's the difference with Hasbro. Despite the fact that the Transformers movies are typically given bad reviews across the board, and the loyal Transformers fanbase tends to despise them. The movies make serious bank. Age of Extinction, which is considered the worst Transformers movie yet, made $1,104,054,072 worldwide. The budget of the film was only $210 million.

Not to mention the money Hasbro makes off the toys, and other marketing tie-ins.

This Barbie movie? I don't see this making anywhere near what a Transformers movie makes. It will be lucky if it breaks even.

The fact that it's live action means that it will likely have a bigger budget, which means it will take more to actually break even, and historically, properties based on things oriented to younger girls do not do well in theaters. In terms of Hasbro, they allowed a Jem and the Holograms movie to be made (with Hasbro Pictures), with a very limited budget ($5M), and it ended up making only half of that, doing so badly that Universal pulled it out of theaters after two weeks (the overseas box office receipts were almost worthless, they ended up only contributing to about $100k to the gross).
 
Amy Schumer has paid more attention talking about her vagina than she has promoting womyn's rights. The perfect role model for little girls.
 
A dude getting mad over Amy Schumer's casting is pretty pointless. If you never played with dolls, it's not ruining your childhood and it's a franchise you never cared about. It's a fairly low chance that it would've done well with or without Schumer's involvement, either.

That said, I imagine that Sony might be creating some of these complaints on social media as a false-flag operation to "prove" sexism, just as they did during Ghostbusters.
 
I can actually see what Amy and Barbie have in common- both of their heads are made of hollowed plastic.
 
Amy Schumer is such an unlikeable pig, though. It's not even a question of body image. Just as a person, she's horrendous, smug, sanctimonious. Basically, Tumblr as a sentient being.
 
What I find amazing is that they couldn't even keep their spaghetti in their pockets until it was past the conceptual process. Filming hasn't even started and they're already breaking out the Social Justice talking points. All right, yes, the usual Autists have already sperged about it, but this would indicate that we're not looking at a mere repeat of the Ghostbusters promotional marketing campaign, but a fucking doubling down of it, indicating that their solution to failure is to fail even harder.
