Amy Schumer Barbie Movie Salt - They didn't learn their lesson after Ghostbusters.

It's even worse. It's a live action movie where the character goes to "the real world". It's about a lazy a premise as you can get.

So this film will be set in the real world and will be about an "imperfect Barbie" who looks like a real woman.

I can't help but feel the makers of this film have somewhat missed the point of Barbie...

The recasting memes are beginning

I am eagerly waiting for the Thomas Rothman thread, especially after he's fired from Sony Pictures and starts his own company dedicated to producing box-office flops, Don Bluth-style.

Controversy = Butts in seats

Seriously, when salt lords stir up an autistic internet thunderdome, Amy Schumer and Sony are laughing their asses off all the way to the bank.

Data shows the exact opposite.

The Ghostbusters movie bombed hard enough to leave a crater visible from space and didn't even come remotely close to making its money back. It was a failure in every sense of the word and the only thing that did worse than it was the video game based on it that was so bad it killed the company that made it in less than three days after the movie's launch.

That this movie is going to bomb just as hard is going to be a bygone conclusion; it is simply a matter of how hard it ends up fucking up at the end of the day. Kick back, relax, grab your popcorn, and watch the real show about to unfold, which is that nobody learned a fucking thing from the last time we were down this road and the old adage about history repeating is as true as it ever was.

i don't get why people are all up in arms about this. amy schumer is smart & funny.

every time amy schumer talks about her vagina, i lose my fucking mind.

edit: holy shit, you autists, go watch some south park.

Counterpoint: The Ghostbustesses.

Ghostbusters was an easy way to scapegoat misogynist men for their cause's failure, because ghostbusters is a franchise that a lot of men grew up with and therefore had opinions about.

How will they blame men for this film's failure, when it is based on a franchise for which boys were never an audience in the first place?

I just... don't even care. I mean, it's fucking Barbie. Besides, this is all so Sony can eat up the attention it's getting, hoping to rake in the cash for all the oppression bux,(and then later crying like babies when the movie bombs and they lost all that money they put in)

So I really don't care. Cast a completely unattractive, unfunny woman as Barbie. Make the brand REALLY unappealing, see how it works out for you.

I will enjoy watching the salt from it though.

The only thing that surprises me is that Mattel is allowing this. You think they'd be more protective of their biggest brand name

That's when it's a real controversy, not a bunch of neckbeard basement-dwellers throwing a tantrum nobody cares about.

So for instance, when Christians picketed Last Temptation of Christ, that was an actual controversy.

This is just neckbeards being neckbeards. Not news outside of Internet clickbait shit read by nobody but neckbeards and legbeards.

Even Hasbro letting their flagship brand be taken over by a bunch of openly depraved perverts makes more business sense.

Sexist toy marketing, obviously. Tumblrinas get really triggered by the concept of "Boys' Toys" and "Girls' Toys", and frequently demand that barbies be marketed to boys, and superheroes be marketed to girls.

If the Barbie movie bombs, then clearly it's the fault of sexist toy marketing not targeting Barbie towards men.
