I am curious what is going to happen if he wins? Like fast forward to 2028 when Americans are sick and tired of Trump, and if Trump has to concede like a pouty child to pass the baton on to someone else, what will the platform for the Republicans be in 2028, since the entire identity is all about Trump, America First is just secondary.
Like with a 2024 loss, there is either them trying to change themselves which is going to be hard, or if hilariously, Trump decides to run in 2028 (which if that happens, that 82 year old man would be cooked.)
I had the same thoughts about 2020 on how the parties could change depending on who wins or loses, though at the time, the Democrat party shift would be more interesting in a Biden loss cause everyone knows that what is happening now is exactly what Trump 2024 would be, which is just going to be more dickriding for Trump.
Pretty sure there will be political violence regardless of who is announced the next President by mainstream news.
The obvious cause will be if Trump loses. He's already set up his followers to believe both the elections are fraud if he loses, and Harris is an illegal candidate to begin with resulting from a political coup. I'm sure no small amount of his base has already convinced themselves that Trump should win by default at this point and even holding the election at all with Harris on the ticket is a traitorous action by the DNC. It won't take much prodding from him this time around.
Spend 20 mins in the Thunderdome and you'll see. Granted, I'm fairly confident the Thunderdome is also populated by plenty of posters with specific political engineering goals in mind that may or may not originate from within the United States.
But the less obvious would be if he wins. Which, I'm of the mind will only happen with some shenanigans pulled by MAGA loyalists who've installed themselves in various election office roles in swing states over the last few years.
There's going to be loud cries of fraud hours into November 4th's polls opening which will only get louder as the day goes on. Counting will get stopped. Results won't be certified. Chaos and confusion will fuck up any idea of what's really going on for the public. We'll get plunged into rumors and speculation again and we'll be left to make the determination based on our own biases and what messages we already consume online, which is already heavily salted by political action efforts.
Don't forget, 2020 had such winning rumors as "Jewish Space Lasers" and "The ballots for trump were hidden in chicken coops and burned" presented as fact and repeated by government officials.
This alone will cause some problems.
But if he tries half the shit he says he would, (Mass deportations of millions of people, the number of people is depending on which speech you cite, or enacting new unilateral immunity for the role of the office) it's fair to assume this would cause significant unrest.
I'm not so sure anyone outside of his deeply obsessed base are up for the USA to bring back internment camps to round up immigrants for "safety" while they check their papers. I'm also going to posit that even within his base, many people don't realize this is the only logistical means to that end that they want and will balk when they start seeing it on the news.
I also think it's fairly reasonable to assume the Christian Nationalism that's tainted his entire political career would be pushed front and center again, which can and will only result in more ideological disparity between normal folks and the frothing autsits who march in the streets. This man can't even hold a bible the right way or quote a single line of scripture outside of the Lord's Prayer and I'm pretty sure normal religious folks see right through it.
Regardless of who wins though, they'll have to confront the Israel problem if they want to make the current unrest calm down. The "anything bad said about Israel is antisemetic and illegal badthink" hold is breaking, finally. I am, by no means, saying Hamas is good. But if that's what it took for the world to see Israel shouldn't be beyond reproach, then so be it.

Unfortunately the only people who know him damn well are people from the NYC tristate area and guess who Republicans will not listen to? I could have told you he was a grifter in 2010, but I grew up with him on the cover of my newspapers constantly.

I don't regret it. I was politically different in 2014-2015. People
SHOULD grow, change and adapt new views when new information presents itself. I wished things turned out differently, but now I know that there is no changing the current establishment without introducing some level of either religious fascism or economic socialism. We have to ride the current political capitalism model out until it crumbles or turns into a corporate dictatorship, which folks like Elon and Bezos are accelerating, IMO.
About the only thing I still feel strongly about in his brand is controlling the southern border. But after seeing the train wreck of his "big, beautiful wall" in person, his most effective border policy being the already existing Title 42 Pandemic response, and the absolute unwilingness to work with any of the attempted legislation proposed over the last 4 years, it's pretty clear to me he's not serious about it.
It's a campaign tool. Always has been, always will be. And I have zero hope or expectation another term for him would change that.
You elderly bible thumpers keep whining about inflation, but then you guys throw a tantrum when a politician suggests anti price gouging laws. Price gouging is what is driving inflation. So other than enforcing price gouging laws, what suggestions do you have to stop inflation, or better yet, what does the obese, elderly man who you want to penetrate you suggest that would fix it?
