I mean, I voted for him in 2016. I was (and still am) sick of establishment politics. Hillary was demonstratively the worst candidate the DNC could have attached their clown balloons to and Trump promised to bring something else to the table. And yes, it was fucking hilarious watching a political candidate openly insult her on national TV. She deserved all of it and it was about time someone did it.
But ultimately, Trump brought elements of oligarchy / autocracy into power instead. As an example: he would find people for his administration and put them into power, sometimes regardless of their qualifications or experience, laud them as perfect, tremendous people right up until the moment they said something he didn't like and took personal, or didn't fall into line with the proper fealty and tithing. Then he would jettison them and throw them to his followers to destroy their careers / personal lives through social media.
Yes, most cab/administration positions serve at the pleasure of the President. But that "pleasure" hadn't as blatantly meant "his Ego" on full display.
People seem to forget Trump's administration was a quickly revolving door for many critical positions because people with experience, skill and maturity almost always ran afoul of his ego by questioning his dog shit ideas (See literally every book ever written by people who were in Trump's administration) and the only people who survived were people who rode his dick unquestioningly.
Lots of really critical shit that makes the government function just got put on hold during Trump because there was simply no one to do it, or was done extremely poorly because doing it well meant pissing off Trump. (His FCC chair Ajit Pai is a perfect example of this.)
For that, I'm convinced he was looking up to Putin as a role model on how to run a country.
But really, I knew something was off the moment he started that phase of doing that weird, power move handshake with other world leaders trying pull them off balance in 2016-2017. That was the most autistic, cringe thing I've ever seen a political figurehead do.
After his 2020 tard rage meltdown, and his entire reason for existing now being "revenge" at this point, I wouldn't trust him to open a can of beans. I feel like another 4 years of Trump in power would consist mostly of him expending a lot of effort to get back at anyone who ever said anything mean about him instead of actually doing anything. The man already spent his first term spending more time playing golf than any other pres, so it's not like he's got a track record of focusing on important things.
