I still cannot get over that this dumbass moved to Seattle proper to avoid income tax, and not even using my favorite example (Wyoming), he could have picked New Hampshire, also with no income tax and less in sales tax. Plus, Seattle is like top 5 in cost of living if you're looking at metro areas.
Just checking local prices on a pizza made me laugh too... $29.50 for a 16" pie, gtfo here. If I visited there and saw prices like that, the last thing I'd be saying is "oh boy can't wait to settle here".
Oh and if he was so hung up on Washington for some dumbass reason, he could have lived on the border between Washington/Oregon, so you can drive into Oregon to make purchases to avoid sales tax and live in Washington to avoid income tax. Plus that area along the coast is pretty nice if you're into parks & shit, which I guess would have been a deterrent for Phil because nature = scary.
New Hampshire is still in the realm of New England and easily a 4-5 hour drive from Bridgeport to the border of New Hampshire, even in Boston traffic. Phil has mentioned before that he HATES where he grew up: the weather being a big factor. Yes, it snows in New England. Whoopie! You grit your teeth and deal with it. Yes, the traffic is bad. Again, you DEAL with it. Also, I remember watching a WPIG episode and he couldn't understand why no one wanted to come to Bridgeport for a tournament he was trying to organize - everyone wanted to go to NYC or Boston. He went "Fuck New York and Boston! Seriously, who wants to go there?" and went to pigsplain how the surrounding states had to endure NYC traffic, the people, etc...However, I just go down to the factor that Phil is just a hateful and spiteful person by nature and the people in New England CAN'T stand passive aggressive people.
For those that are not of the New England style, or international style people, the people of New England are tight knit, especially in the old neighborhood. People that grew up there usually stay there, go down to Florida for a few weeks to get out of the cold, or move to Arizona or Los Angeles because friends told them that they can find work, etc...
That said, we all know Phil has confrontation in his nature, well, behind a keyboard. Phil is VERY passive aggressive and a bit of TMI, I have spent a bit of time in Seattle metro and the one thing that Seattle is known for, besides the gum wall, pale people, and shitty people, it's the "Seattle freeze". The Seattle Freeze is where residents are cold to new residents that want to build a life there. Most people last a year or two years at MOST, before they go "Fuck this!" and leave. Also, a LOT of the people there are very passive aggressive and you have to be EXTREMELY assertive to get people to recognize their shitty behaviour.
Phil, by nature, is passive aggressive. He fits the Seattle mold. I think he moved there to get away from his controlling parents, but also something that fits his true personality: being a shitty person and having a passive aggressive attitude.
