Achievement Hunters Club - Wasted 300 hours of my life just for a platinum gang

There's a few games I can think off the back that do these, like Jump King, but that one's for the actual hardcore gamers out there. I was watching someone 100% this game, and it's Splasher. You know what they were trying to get? A speedrun badge, alright that's pretty difficult, but here's a catch: YOU CAN'T DIE ONCE! They've combined the worst, and most difficult tasks in one badge. You also have to get platinum in a speedrun, and beat all levels with the platinum rating. Absolute hell. That mad man actually got all the achievements though believe it or not.
The worst achievement I've heard of is Crypt of the Necrodancer which had basically "finish the game with all characters one after another" (and they aren't balanced, some of them are legit awful). And to make things worse it's a roguelike so you can legit start the six hour run with a bad seed making it unwinnable. It's too tier tranny maxxing. Though it probably made the world a better place purely through causing them to commit suicide.

I HATE achievements that require finding X knickknacks around the world. Looking at you, Ubisoft.
The first Prototype game had over 200 collectibles. But the worst part is, as people found out later; one of them is straight bugged and won't appear until you collect a specific one, save, and reset the game. It will then appear when you load up the game. So even if you use a guide or even one of those interactive maps, it won't fucking appear.

Try doing achievements with Kinect games. You'd have to actively move your body and hope that the Kinect doesn't misread your movement.

Just finished GTA IV's main story. Now, I just need to mop up collectibles for 100% and those respective achievements. Stunt jumps, killing pigeons, finding cars, hanging with friends. Wonderful. And no, I'm not going for the multiplayer achievements now. That's too much as it is.

Does anybody remember their FIRST achievement/trophy? I'm looking through my achievement catalog; first tracked achievement was from Gears of War 1. Technically, my first achievement was from the ATV motorcross game, Pure. But, that was offline. I think it was Christmas of 2009.

I fucking hate myself Yakuzi bros...

I used to think the people who are saying that achievement hunting is a gay waste of time were wrong
Now with games and achievements becoming increasingly shitty on average, I'm willing to concede the point
Basically, if achievements are there just to get addicts to waste lots of time doing unfun tasks in games that they no longer enjoy, hunting these achievements is gay and retarded
I'm going to say a pretty retarded opinion but achievements on Steam are inherently worthless if they don't lead to any rewards or unlockables.
Either valve has to patch achievement unlockers or achievements will lack any bragging/ego value due to it becoming something so easily cheated with only a few clicks.
Well you can still call the cheaters faggots lol, but seeing the percentage of a very hard achievement go up is seethe worthy.

The only ones I've been trying to 100% recently are Ready or Not and the Resident evil games.
However, any game that requires multiple playthroughs to get every achievement are excluded, very few games are worth playing through multiple times let alone for achievements.
I disagree. Most games are meant to be replayable.
If the product is not even worth extra time after beating the game, then just pirate it.
I want to pay money in something I'll get most of my time in.
Hence I mostly only pay for games with multiplayer, workshop support, continuous updates(Excluding bethesda titles), or ones that will save me time just downloading it off the library if I get the itch to wanting to play it again.
Platinum'd New Vegas and it's DLCs on PS3. I wasn't even trying to, just played the game so much that it almost happened naturally. By the time I decided I was done playing I checked the trophy list and there was only a couple of easy ones left so I just finished it off (i.e. 10,000 explosive damage, because I neglected using explosives with my guy)
Atleast someone appreciated Cards of The Caravan.
How'd you even get yourself to invest in that let alone naturally find it out?
90% of the player games avoided or missed that game mode.
I only found out 7th playthrough in and it was when watching a build guide on youtube.
Granted I'm the type of person to always go "No Gods, No Masters" every run.
Creating builds solely to push their possible limits and kill everything in the game.
Fuck roleplaying I just want to be strong.
I really feel like the devs could have probably finished the game if they didn't invest their time in a niche gamemode. It should be a given that finishing the base game should always go first before creating side content, I mean imagine if Treyarch did that for Cod WaW?
Seems like a waste of time and money for a rushed 17 month development cycle.
I've got four games on Steam with one achievement left to get, but they're all the kind that require a grind that'd at least double my playtime. So I've never 100%'d anything. Oh well!
Grindy or tedious achievements are really stupid.
This one I can agree to be massive wastes of time.
Getting achievements should be fun not fucking tedious, and they're always never worth it. By the time you finish, the initial excitement you feel after completing it wouldn't even outweigh the agonizing pain of the process and the numbing tinge of regret you'll feel after realizing you wasted your time not having fun.
This is why I support new playthrough achievements, atleast you'll have fun going through the game again.
Like I did with RE4R.

I remember liking it but can't remember a single thing about how it's played. Pretty sure that achievement was one of the ones I grinded out the last 10 or so wins but it's been too long to say.

Just remembered that i gave up on HL2:ep2 when i didnt close the shuttle door for the gnome acheivement (without a recent save)
also prob should have New Vegas at 100% (execpt for caravan) if i didnt have to go into console to noclip out of shit

There's a tool in Steam that unlocks all achievements for any game you want. Doesn't that invalidate the whole point of achievements? Can Steam detect that?
That's what I'm saying. And no.
There are no clear signifyer that someone has cheated their achievements.
You can only determine that someone has cheated if you personally look for disrepancies and patterns on their profile like low hour counts with all achievements, botted hour counts, checking the achievement timeline to check if the achievements were acquired from a short time span from one another or at the same time.

It's a third party program like dlc unlockers.
These steam level 100 and above faggots doing whatever they can to stroke their egos.

I used to be an achievement hunter until this game

This game fucking broke me. Months I sunk into this game to get the 100% and when I got it I didn't feel fulfilled or accomplished. I felt nothing. That was the last game I 100%.

One game that broke me was Bad Company 2 before the servers shutdown. I had to find a few people to boost for AFK kills for a couple hours a night while taking turns. I didn't buy the Onslaught DLC so I cannot even 100% the whole game if I wanted to.

Unlockers are a double edged sword imo.

They're extremely useful for when achievements bug. I 100% Gungrave Gore recently. Requires 3 playthroughs, the game sucks, and each playthrough takes roughly 5-6 hours. The "easy mode" one didn't pop, despite me getting the in game reward for meeting the requirement. Needless to say, no way in Hell was I about to do an additional playthrough when I achieved it legitimately.

Then there's games I already spent significant time in before (ex: Disgaea 2, spent about 2000 hours on it as a stupid teenager), or have the "platinum" elsewhere (New Vegas on Ps3). It's extremely tempting to just leave them running for a few days and just pop achievements every handful of hours to make my playtime look legitimate. Who would know? Only me unless someone went full autism and looked for discrepancies. I've played both enough to know what achievements/milestones should be popped and when. Even if I didn't know the game well, it's not rocket science to leave it running in the bg, build up hours, and just pop achievements based on the unlock % and a guide with a time to completion estimate.

Cheating Steam achievements is honestly so easy if you have a bare technical knowledge of computers, that I've personally taken to recording the ones I take on that actually require skill. They mean very little because of how easily they're cheated and undetected (which is one of the few positives I can give consoles these days, they're more secure about this aspect), but I can at least prove the ones that really matter are legit if someone really cares that much about my sweaty conquests.

Just bought three games from the Summer Sale. I plan on 100% them soon. I decided to postpone Yakuza 0 since I was having difficulties with the rhythm minigame.

On a positive note, A Hat in Time recently announced a Summer Event, which means the game got active again.

This was good because the reason why I stopped 100%ing it was because of its online party achievements, like this one... Seriously, I hate this type of achievements.

It took 3 days, but I was able to finally 100% it.

The death wishes are no joke, I hate the no-zero jump challenges with a damn passion. Why did the devs thought it was a good idea to make a bug an intentional mechanic.

@The Last Stand , since you already did a 100% run on Stick of Truth. I decided to read a guide and noticed that there's an achievement in which you have to beat the game without any of your allies being knocked out. How hard is that? It just sounds so obnoxious and difficult.

Got the platinum on PS3 and PS4, as long as you have a decent build and abuse DoTs (they're really powerful) you shouldn't have too much of a problem with this one; another tip, don't use Kenny or his abilities as they often end with him being dead. I would also say, the highest level gear isn't always the best, and I say this more about weapons than gear; as weapons often have built in affects, and then you can modify them. Like there's one weapon that as long as there's more than one enemy, it'll bounce off enemies and hit 5 times total; modify it to inflict bleed or burn or something (and keep in mind DoTs stack too); or the Lawn Dart weapon inflicts bleed, and you can modify it to also inflict burning or something else so it does two for one. Getting creative with your weapons and how you modify them and you can break the game.

It helps to collect as much as you can for buffs and healing potions. I remember Butters can heal allies in exchange for a turn. I never had MUCH difficulty with maintaining my party up until the halfway point. Once you find a upgraded weapon with upgraded protection and understand the game's mechanics, you should go through no problem. That said, it helps to save regularly so you CAN revert if you messed up.
