Conjoined twin Abby Hensel is now married - Abby, the left-side conjoined twin, married Josh Bowling, a nurse and United States Army veteran, in 2021.

Abby and Brittany Hensel, who documented their lives in a TLC reality series, have transitioned from a duo to a trio.

Abby, the left-side conjoined twin, married Josh Bowling, a nurse and United States Army veteran, in 2021. They live in Minnesota, where the Hensel twins were born and raised.

Abby and Brittany, 34, have been living private lives since their 8-episode show “Abby & Brittany” aired in 2012. But it’s been a happy life for them in Minnesota, where they were born and raised.

According to the “Today” show, which obtained marriage records for the spouses, the sisters are both fifth-grade teachers in their home state.

Abby and Josh kept their marriage under wraps from the public eye until 2023, when they shared photos of the wedding ceremony on their TikTok, @abbyandbrittanyhensel. A wedding guest’s resurfaced clip revealed an intimate moment from the lovebird’s wedding on Facebook.

A 20-second clip posted on Heidi Bowling’s Facebook captures the couple dancing and kissing at the wedding reception. Abby and her sister wore an all-white, sleeveless bridal gown and laced-back dress, while Bowling wore a grey suit.

Bowling is seen staring into his blushing bride’s eyes while Brittany supports her sister.

The duo originally appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1996, explaining their lives as conjoined twins.

They were born as dicephalus conjoined twins, a rare condition when two heads are on a single body with one genital system; two, three or four arms, two hearts and two legs.

The Helsen twins share a bloodstream and all organs below the waist. Abby controls their right arm and leg and Brittany controls the left side.

When Abby and Brittany were born in 1990, their parents, Patty and Mike Hensel, opted out of separation surgery because doctors said there was a small chance the girls would survive the operation, “Today” reported.

“How could you pick between the two?” their father Mike said, during a 2001 interview with Time magazine.

Although they battle complications of life as conjoined twins, they haven’t let it slow them down from achieving benchmark goals such as passing their driver’s license test at 16, graduating from college, traveling to Europe and becoming educators.

So far, there’s word if they plan on expanding their family.

In the 2003 documentary “Joined for Life,” Abby and Brittany discuss the possibility of raising children one day.

“Yeah, we’re going to be moms,” Brittany said. “We haven’t thought about how being moms is going to work yet. But we’re just 16 — we don’t need to think about that right now.”

And the couple doesn’t have to rush adding children into their life because Abby’s husband has a child from a prior relationship, according to the Daily Mail.

Bowling’s Facebook page reveals how the blended family embraces each other with family photoshoots, an ice cream outing and celebrating the holidays.

calling it "separation" is a euphemism. what they were considering is if they should kill and remove one head to allow the other to have a more normal life with a body of her own, or keep them both alive and chained together in a shared body forever.
How would they figure out which one to kill? That's the really nasty kind of thing doctors don't like doing.

Not since the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has it been this unclear whether an event marks the beginning of the best or worst sex of a man’s life. Is he playing a game of ” Fuck, Marry, Kill” against Satan?

So what happens when the other sis decides she wants to get fucked by someone else? Will Husband 1 be okay sharing his wife's body, if not her love, with whoever the sister chooses? What if Sister 1 gets turned on while getting fucked by Sister 2's partner and decides it's now an affair on Husband 1?

If they have a kid and the kid says "mom" who responds?

This is weird

I'm just wondering if I got this straight, but only one of them is in a relationship with this dude and the other has to become a third wheel for the rest of her life.

I think applying "normal human" logic to these women is mostly pointless. They have grown up and are completely used to making decisions together and are used to having no privacy together. When you literally grow up sharing every personal detail with each other, using the bathroom together, showering together, having periods together, etc., then it makes the thought of them having sex with someone else less creepy because I doubt they even give it a second thought. It's just business as usual.

This guy could be a creep, but who knows, he could genuinely love them. It's not like they're the first conjoined twins to find love and start a family. I hope it works out because the twins seem like nice and hard working women that try their best to live a "normal" life despite their disability.
Wait everyone’s missed they’re both fifth grade teachers. Do they each get a salary? That’s kinda double dipping.

Or maybe they both count 3/5ths.
I watched a documentary and apparently they are well loved in that school. I also remember reading a reddit thread with several parents confirming that they are good teachers and that the kids stopped being weirded out by them after a week or so.

As others have mentioned, they are almost certainly a threesome. Although they have distinct personalities, the two cojoined sisters aren't really a two in any meaningful sense. If their new husband fucks one, he's fucking both. I hope they make it work.

Yes. They only have one vagina, and one normal uterus with two ovaries. I don't know which one "has" the eggs tho or if they're split. They're very private about their love life, but I would imagine they can both "feel" it.

Huh now I have even more questions. They both separately control the arm and leg on their side of the body. So could the one that doesn't have control still feel pain if the other arm gets cut? I would assume so....but then why can't they control said arm?
Sensory nerves and motor nerves hook up to the CNS in different places, but I don't imagine that the one who can't control the left can still feel the left.

The brain is also highly plastic when it comes to this stuff and since these two have always been this way, their brains are probably markedly different in how they organize this information. If they really are split in half that way they've already had to work out coordinated ways to walk, drive, get up and lay down, and do it in a way unlike how any normal human would.

Imagine trying to talk your kid through his natural freaked out and bewildered reaction to this. Like yes, we should not be unkind to those with disfiguring disabilities...but do we really need a side show in the classroom?

Still better than a troon teacher though.

Yeah, I think if I was a parent I wouldn't even believe them "Give me a break, a two headed teacher?". I'm sure parent teacher meetings are interesting.

That said, I think it's fine. I had a teacher that was horribly disfigured from some car fire and it really (no offense) grossed me out how bad half of his face and hands looked, but after a couple of weeks I really didn't "notice" it anymore. I'm sure that's how it was for these kids too.

I can't imagine walking into middle school and having this teacher be one of the people greeting me at the door. That's a wild profession for them to go into. But imagine the good cop/bad cop discipline routine, it probably works great.

Morbid thought. What happens when one of them dies? Do they both pass away due to overlaps in the circulatory system or does the survivor just have to get an emergency surgery while in mourning?
Less-morbid thought. I bet they can rap really well, but I'm not sure how their ribs and lungs work. If separate, they could do some sweet harmonies.
