Conjoined twin Abby Hensel is now married - Abby, the left-side conjoined twin, married Josh Bowling, a nurse and United States Army veteran, in 2021.

Abby and Brittany Hensel, who documented their lives in a TLC reality series, have transitioned from a duo to a trio.

Abby, the left-side conjoined twin, married Josh Bowling, a nurse and United States Army veteran, in 2021. They live in Minnesota, where the Hensel twins were born and raised.

Abby and Brittany, 34, have been living private lives since their 8-episode show “Abby & Brittany” aired in 2012. But it’s been a happy life for them in Minnesota, where they were born and raised.

According to the “Today” show, which obtained marriage records for the spouses, the sisters are both fifth-grade teachers in their home state.

Abby and Josh kept their marriage under wraps from the public eye until 2023, when they shared photos of the wedding ceremony on their TikTok, @abbyandbrittanyhensel. A wedding guest’s resurfaced clip revealed an intimate moment from the lovebird’s wedding on Facebook.

A 20-second clip posted on Heidi Bowling’s Facebook captures the couple dancing and kissing at the wedding reception. Abby and her sister wore an all-white, sleeveless bridal gown and laced-back dress, while Bowling wore a grey suit.

Bowling is seen staring into his blushing bride’s eyes while Brittany supports her sister.

The duo originally appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1996, explaining their lives as conjoined twins.

They were born as dicephalus conjoined twins, a rare condition when two heads are on a single body with one genital system; two, three or four arms, two hearts and two legs.

The Helsen twins share a bloodstream and all organs below the waist. Abby controls their right arm and leg and Brittany controls the left side.

When Abby and Brittany were born in 1990, their parents, Patty and Mike Hensel, opted out of separation surgery because doctors said there was a small chance the girls would survive the operation, “Today” reported.

“How could you pick between the two?” their father Mike said, during a 2001 interview with Time magazine.

Although they battle complications of life as conjoined twins, they haven’t let it slow them down from achieving benchmark goals such as passing their driver’s license test at 16, graduating from college, traveling to Europe and becoming educators.

So far, there’s word if they plan on expanding their family.

In the 2003 documentary “Joined for Life,” Abby and Brittany discuss the possibility of raising children one day.

“Yeah, we’re going to be moms,” Brittany said. “We haven’t thought about how being moms is going to work yet. But we’re just 16 — we don’t need to think about that right now.”

And the couple doesn’t have to rush adding children into their life because Abby’s husband has a child from a prior relationship, according to the Daily Mail.

Bowling’s Facebook page reveals how the blended family embraces each other with family photoshoots, an ice cream outing and celebrating the holidays.

So three lungs and two hearts means that one can be choked/smothered, or no? Could the scorned head try to kill itself, or the married head conspire to kill the third wheel? Could you have the "choking during intense sex session" and have zero risk because the other head is still there?
If one died the system would not be able to survive since its all interconnected. Cheng and Eng were connected by a thin string of flesh with some portions of liver and when one died the other followed shortly.

I can't get too worked up about this. Those girls were dealt an awful hand by fate, and they deserve a chance at happiness, no matter how unconventional.
On one hand yeah it would suck to be in their situation, on the other hand it’s miraculous that they not only turned out looking this “normal” (literally a spitting image of what everyone thinks when they imagine a 2-headed person) and were able to survive to adulthood and apparently lead pretty fulfilling lives. Definitely a one-in-a-trillion medical marvel.

This man now knows what we all wanted to know, far more interesting than the other counts- do they have two breasts (as appears to be the case) or is there a third one in play?
Chang and Ang Bunker both had wives, they married a pair of sisters IIRC (and also had a plantation and slaves). Conjoined twins marrying a spouse each has happened before.
Yes, two of their sons served honorably fighting against the demonic Ammurican Empire in the War of Northern Aggression.

On that note I wonder, since they don't get paid as two people do they get taxed as two people by the government? Do they have separate social security numbers? I wouldn't be surprised if the government still taxed them as two people even if they're not getting paid like that
If they're smart they'd have one of them with all the assets and income on paper. The other, being massively disabled and "broke" would be able to get essentially maximum government assistance.

Came to an A&N thread about these two expecting furious speculation about their sex life and not much else, and was not let down.

Granted it's been a long time since I took anatomy+physiology, but given the number of organs the twins share it seems to me effectively impossible that both could survive such a surgery.

I still bet this guy has a fetish he wants to be watched while fucking, that's the only thing I can see for him to marry this broad.

Holy shit, it’s really true… they married one dude. When a few grainy pictures of evidence of a relationship/wedding emerged over a year ago, a bunch of us cynics pressed X for doubt. There was no official confirmation, and such rumors of a marriage swirled for over a decade. I always figured Abby would be the one on paper to be the “married one.” She always dominated. (No wonder, with how they’re built,)

To sperg about this for a bit… I watched their specials back in the day, seen the rumors over the years (not just of marriage but a sex tape, that was really more of a sex gif). The questions here about salary and taxes are interesting. While they reportedly receive one salary, I imagine they file two sets of taxes; the government being what it is. Their age 16 special showed they had to take two driving tests and have two licenses. The DMV didn’t (or couldn’t) get the ID photos of one girl at a time so their two heads were in each individual ID.

To answer another question posed, they have said they refer to themselves as “I” when “texting.” (This was actually IMing before texting got big, but I imagine that it’s probably the same.) However, if either had a different thing to say, they’d write, “Brittany says this,” or “Abby thinks that…” The way they seamlessly played sports, drove a car and finished each other's thoughts… all fascinating stuff. Marrying is wild, but they are not exactly “two individuals” in the traditional sense. I think they are the first ever dicephalic parapagus twins to marry. I don’t think it’s happened. To me, that is what sets it apart from other conjoined twin relationships/marriages…which were already hard to comprehend.

I can't believe the classic conundrum hasn't come up yet: what if one of them commits a crime? A serious crime, like murder? And let's say the other sister is completely innocent and unaware. They came to a decision to carry a gun for protection, one of them suddenly grabs it and blows someone away and the other is like "Oh my God, what the fuck are you doing?!?". There are plenty of witnesses so there's no doubt about that.

So what happens? Do we send an innocent woman to prison for life because of the crimes of her sister? Or do we just let the both of them go scot free? Will the murderer use that as a way to keep killing people and getting away with it?

Well for one, these two are quite literally unique, so any of the brilliant hypotheticals brought up in this thread have not been tested yet. We simply don't know how the law would be applied to a situation involving only one of them.

That said, I think it would be entirely impossible for one of them to commit a crime without the other knowing the intent of the other ahead of time. These women share cognitive functioning to the point where they can text and type on a keyboard, each using the hand that she controls, without verbally communicating.

Is it just me or is the one on the right kinda getting downplayed all the time?

And as to being 5th grade teachers, the kids would ask all the horribly intrusive questions in the first few days and then get bored and it would be normal.

I assume they have some tricks they can ask the teachers to do and that would probably be the only recurring thing.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one that noticed that. Abby, the one on the left I believe, does seem to be the more dominant and larger of the two twins. Honestly Brittany is more to the side if you think like her head is more tilted and Abby is more centered unless it’s the other way.

I originally googled to see if they both were teachers or if Abby is and Britt is just her hanger on basically and found this update on the marriage.

Ex Wife Paternity Suit

The more I think about it this is getting more bizarre and I kind of wish they wouldn’t have given more information because one, it’s no one’s business to begin with. I know that they were dealt a fucked hand and this is the most they can get to normalcy and conventionality, which (good for them) it looks like they want that and second, because it just raises so many more questions than if they would have honestly just have been quiet about their sex life.

The marriage itself was like three years ago so I’m not sure why it’s getting traction now. The article I read says that they don’t have social media or if they do it’s private and unused but then they made a tiktok ….for haters?

Also the article says at the end the twins think of themselves as the same person unless they disagree and then they differentiate so that pretty much cinches everything (for me anyway) that Abby is the wife on paper and they are committing freaky wincest behind closed doors.

Whatever, as long as they don’t become lolcow themselves somehow. I’m actually rooting for them. It can’t be easy time sharing a body and growing up this seemingly stable.
