(I'd also heard they were remaking Dumbo. I wonder how they'll deal with the fact that a child gets drunk in that film - even if it is an elephant I don't think you can do that in a film anymore...)

Forget the pink elephants sequence, what're they gonna do about the Jim Crow characters?

Like they're a legitimate plot device (the 'magic feather' thing), you can't get rid of them that easily...but at the same time they are a pretty racist as fuck stereotype. You could edit them to make them less stereotype, obviously, but I get the weird feeling some idiot's going to claim that's "just as bad" because Disney's ignoring their uglier past or something.

So I wonder if this time they'll pay the Kimba the White Lion people they ripped the whole thing off in the first place.

I like to think they will be all gangsta and shit and be voiced by Tyler the creator and the Odd Future crew.

The salt and tears from old fans is gonna be vast and glorious. One thing's for sure - just go back to watching the original movie and let this come and go. That's all I can think of to do for those who don't want to subject themselves to what's sounding like a waste of time to me to worry about.

The only way I can see this working is if it was like the new Jungle Book, since that was actually a really nice movie. Keep all the same lines, keep the songs, just update the technology.
Also, I fucking hate remakes. Come up with an original idea for fuck's sake.

I don't want to imagine a photorealistic Timon and Pumbaa. They wouldn't be half as entertaining as they are in the animated version.

This trend of live action adaptations of Disney classics is becoming almost as cancerous as the direct-to-video sequels they were doing in the Eisner days.

Personally, if they were going to try to remake a Disney Renaissance film with CG and live action, why not The Little Mermaid? You can get live people, some stellar water animation, and make enough changes to keep it fresh.

If they remake Oliver and Company, it'll only be worth it if the world resembles what it did in the 80s.

And if Natalie Gregory had a daughter, they'd better cast her as Jenny.

It's already in development.

I assume this is so they can presumably crush the upcoming Universal hopefully-much-closer-to-Andersen's-story version.

Hey look on the bright side. At least Disney Animation is still making original stuff.

So Beauty and the Beast is coming out this Thanksgiving or Christmas, both The Lion King and The Little Mermaid are development, and wasn't a live-action Mulan announced because there was SJW outrage over the cast?
