Those types of scams exist on Twitter and some other US-based sites too. Though sometimes they'll mix it up by having a generic hot girl profile picture and trying to get you to buy into some cryptocurrency. It's very obvious when you get unprompted DMs from random accounts with no followers and seemingly randomly generated usernames. The Man-D situation is very different because he was sending Nicki money through youtube superchats for an extended period of time. It'd be like if those scammers were paying you to read their dms.
Yes, there are such scams in America. Any man who has been on the Internet for more than a day knows that women NEVER cold approach men, so if someone claiming to be a woman sends you an unsolicited message, you should automatically know that it's a scam. However, Nick thought that being a minor e-celeb made him the exception, and that "hot big titty mechanic girl with 5,000 hours logged in TF2" really thought his big red nose was sexy.
It’s pretty clear Buffalo Dan gets off on forming connections with men who believe he is a woman. When “MANdy” told Nick on stream chat that “I saw you” (when he was in Texas), I take him at his word. I wouldn’t be surprised if this creep followed Nick from the Blaze studios to the bar. I wouldn’t even be shocked if Buffalo Dan was the one who roofied Nick that night. There was zero chance of Nick noticing some random guy when he’s busy macking on women who aren’t his wife.
Yeah, I was only half-joking about him being a potential rapist/serial killer a few pages back, it's very plausible given his behavior and the fact that he's spending so much time and money on this otherwise fruitless pursuit. It makes a lot more sense if you think of him as a sexual predator.

Okay, so I am correct in the general aspect, but this was more of a parasocial-extended thing? Still, that very much calls Nick's tech-awareness or general life experience into question. From the few clips that we have of Mandy talking, it's super obvious that it is either a bad impression or a very low quality AI pitcher or both. And from that I can assume that Nick never talked to Mandy over an audiocall, because I refuse to believe that a man without shellshock level brain damage would mistake that for a female voice.
I’m sure he does feel some guilt, but IMO the way to handle that would be to fess up, admit you fucked up, apologise to Nick / MANdy for adding to the drama and then shut up about it. Chastising everyone else for looking into it or commenting is being hypocritical and self-righteous when he doesn’t have that right.
I think Joe is more just trying to standby his friend. I think people are assuming he knows a lot more about Internet Bullshit than he does. He’s not like Branca and playing dumb to guard Nick. I think Joe is just an old Boomer asking people to lay off his friend because he’s going off limited info.
It was definitely very suspect the entire time as others have noted, though he did make some effort to alter the stolen photos so they wouldn't be detected quite as easily. @Balldo's Gate did a detailed writeup on the old photos a while back, though even if Man-D didn't alter them enough to be effective at beating that kind of detection, I think Nicki is the kind of drunk retard who wouldn't even bother doing a reverse lookup because sending him money and sucking his dick through parasocial interactions is probably enough to get him to let go of what little suspicion he has in the first place.

You have to remember that Nick has holes in his brain the size of his state of origin. Even though the photos were altered in such a way as to defeat simple image searches, how batshit quality they were was its own red flag. There was some debate on whether or not Mandy was posting old pics in an attempt to appear young, but it was obvious from the outset that Mandy was some form of Catfish.
To be fair, Catfish are so tasty that it must involve some sort of Goyim sorcery. It just doesn't make sense that this fresh water garbage disposal tastes so damn good.
