I thought about the same about Tear Along the Dotted Line as you did. This World Can't Tear Me Down revealed the absurdity of the main character in the first one. Zero is pathetic.

No, Zero was always a pathetic narcissist who fails to see the world through anyone's eyes but his own. He was always absurd, and he was put in his place at the end of the series. That's why it worked; the show seemed self aware.

While the first series humored him, the second series embraces him. All the self awareness goes out the window, and he's painted as righteous even if he's on the side of actual terrorists. When the revolutionary lady fails to convince the politicians, she say something along the lines of "they didn't listen to us, we need to escalate to violence" and they're the good guys, while the opposition are nigger hating nazis. Yea right.

I started watching How to Train Your Dragon movies on 4k blu ray and was surreal to see how dated they looked in parts mostly with low res textures or stuff like hair looking funky. Crazy that Pinocchio's animation still looks amazing despite being from 1940, has me wondering if CGI movies will ever become ageless like 2D animation.

In all fairness, the visuals in the first Ice Age looked hideous because it was rushed to theatres once Fox realized how much of a failure Titan AE was, leaving Blue Sky to fast track production. That said, the writing and humor in it is still gold.

I'd say the same with Jimmy Neutron and Barnyard, both movies having horrifyingly outdated animation, but are way better with writing and humor.

Is it an unpopular opinion to like that movie? Granted, I haven't seen it since I was a kid and I'm not in a rush to do so again, but I listen to the music now and then and have fond memories of it.

Looking back, it's outdated as it's a product of the early-2000s, but I thought it was entertaining. And yes, its soundtrack is very kino.

It only failed because of the production difficulties and especially how it was poorly marketed. And considering this was from Don Bluth, who was at that point on the heals of the success of Anastasia, Titan A.E. was the one film that killed his career and driving him to retirement.

I remember Titan AE striking me and my friend group as basically, a Western Animation guy trying to prove he could tell an anime-esque story.

I don't know if that was the actual intention, but that's the vibe we had at the time.

To be honest I recall having fun with it, but not thinking it was anything amazing. The friend I saw it in theaters with loved two things particularly: First, in his words: "wow... its one thing to kill your enemies... but to use them as a FUEL SOURCE?" Second, the "Planet Bob" thing at the end.

EDIT: I seem to remember the movie also spawned two novel tie-ins, one for each of the leads IIRC. Did anyone ever read those?

In terms of modern day adult animated shows, I still miss Bless the Harts, Duncanville, Close Enough, Inside Job and Little Demon a lot, even today. These shows were underrated shows that were screwed over by their original networks they were on and they have every right to be way better shows than bullshit that came out in the same era like Birdgirl, Hoops, The Great North or Big Mouth.

Morel Orel was Adult Swim's best show. Alot of people including the Execs at the studio said it was just too damn depressing to go on, but it was really clever along with all the heavy shit. And it introduced me to the Mountain Goats which I will always be grateful for
