Disaster Germany passes bill phasing out oil and gas heating systems - Its okay if the heating system can be converted to hydrogen 😂

Germany’s lower house of parliament passed a bill on Friday on phasing out oil and gas heating systems after months of debates. Still, the watered-down bill means the sector’s 2030 climate goal cannot be reached, the economy ministry said.

Under the bill, part of Germany’s drive to become climate neutral by 2045, heating systems installed in new developments and in old buildings located in areas with a municipal heating plan will have to run on 65% renewable energy.

Gas heaters may still be installed from next year if they can be converted to hydrogen, including in new buildings if they are not part of new developments.

Some 399 parliamentarians voted in favor, 275 opposed, and five abstained.

The government will subsidize the switch with money from its Climate And Transformation Fund, with the goal of cutting emissions in Germany’s building sector by 2030. The sector was responsible for 112 million tonnes of greenhouse gases, or 15% of Germany’s total emissions in 2022.

The economy ministry acknowledged that watering down the bill’s original draft, which would have imposed the green switch much earlier, would mean Germany won’t reach its emissions goal in the sector by 2030.

This is actually 4 day chess to get the Rapefugees out of the country.
Just phase out nuclear power, oil and coal in a country primarily living off it's heavy industry, crashing the economy.
The economy crashes, no gibs anymore, they fuck off to where they came from.
It is a brilliant plan.

...Hydrogen? They know thats explosive and the last thing they should be using in a heating system right?

Germans don't exactly have a good track record with anything running on hydrogen

So instead, let's make everything electric, and become more enslaved to Russian hydrocarbons to generate electricity, because we are retarded Krauts who refuse to build new nuclear plants.
American hydrocarbons, actually. Germany and Europe in general are having to tilt towards US LNG exports ever since Nordstream got blown up and the EU declared that they will never do business with teh evul RuZZian Orcs ever again.

Never mind that will be far more expensive than Russian gas, but the people running things in Europe have never given a shit about the living standards of their subjects anyway.

Qatari hydrocarbons. They came to Canada last year pretty much begging on hands and knees for a deal but our retarded federal government told them to pound sand so they did. Same story with Japan as well.

Germans getting exactly what they voted for, good & hard.
Imagine being forcibly deindustrialized by russian sanctions, then CHOOSING to vote for greens whose entire pillar is energy poverty.

No doubt the Krauts will be pushing for heat pumps. Now I'm not anti-heat pump (I have one myself), but they start to lose their effectiveness when the outdoor temperature falls below freezing (0C). The colder it gets, the less effective at heating it is due to the heat pump needing to defrost itself more often and for longer.

Fun fact: Germany is cold in winter, and sub-0C temperatures are a common occurrence.

Kind of too late for Germans to worry about gas bills aren’t it?

The law is stupid and will do nothing...
Its mostly about new homes and those havent gotten traditional heating in almost a decade...
insulation and heat pumps have been the way to go for good new homes for some time while flats just get hooked up to central heating.

Can they all just freeze to death already?
My grandma didnt have heating last winter because she is a penny pincher and wouldnt pay extra money for a new heating system so late in the year(it gets more expensive in winter). her older home is so well insulated that it never dipped below 15°C the only change she had done was me installing a huge heat lamp in the bathroom.
newer homes are even more insulated, heating isnt realy needed anymore...

Ok, can Putin nuke them already then?
