Zealous Primitivists / Neo-Luddites / Tedposters / Ted Kaczynski Stans

It's been interesting reading the varied responses to the death of Ted Kaczynski. I got sort of fascinated with him a little while ago, going over his old writings, like these short essays he got published in newspapers. It's just interesting to read about one of the early saboteurs of logging machinery, like Earth First!ers, but coming from a different place ideologically, and then how he escalated to bombings, like the character in one of his favourite books The Secret Agent. Plus his commitment to living life in a small hut, hunting and growing some of his own food.

As part of looking into Ted I got pretty familiar with some of his die hard fans. So, I thought I'd write this thread about them, but this is not about those who are sympathetic to Ted or agree with some of his points or ideas. This thread is rather about those who are absolutely fanatical to the man, to the point their entire lives revolve around him. I’m talking about the AnPrims, Neo-Luddites and Tedposters that treat Ted almost as a religious figure, and bring their ridiculous army whenever Ted is criticized.

Here are a few notable examples below.

Chad A Haag

Chad moved to live in India where he considers getting food poisoning from spoiled goat meat to be far superior to living in America (this actually happened).

He has a YouTube channel where he larps on about Evola, Ted, Varg and other such individuals and considers them the greatest philosophers of modern times (This includes Jaques Ellul so he’s not entirely wrong). He’s pretty much your typical pagan third positionist.

If this wasn’t enough, he has written a series of self-published books. In one book he literally discusses anime in a socio-political context. Despite claiming he doesn’t use the internet or the TV much.

image001.png

In his Kaczynski book (which he boasted was the first proper look at Ted) he compares destroying the “system” to Luke Skywalker blowing up the Death Star.

“But the System does not allow even the minutest expression of genuine freedom, because genuine freedom would disrupt the essence of the System by calling into question its technological infrastructure. The metaphor of the Death Star is therefore doubly fitting, since Luke Skywalker had to penetrate the surface level and descend deep into the belly of the beast in order to destroy what was quite literally a giant technological monstrosity which threatened the survival of entire planets and species of natural beings.”

/tkg/

Ted Kaczynski General on /pol/ was a general where people discussed Ted and technology. While claiming to be a place where pro-ted and pro-tech people could state their opinions and discuss, it was mostly made from Ted fans who wanted to get people into his ideology. Anyone who disagreed was told to “READ TED'' and slapped with the /tkg/ FAQ which was heavily skewed towards Ted.

It is no longer running on a regular basis. Afterwards, Tedposters got into a massive argument about how /tkg/ toned down the arguments and that /tkg/ “weren’t true tedposters” or “weren’t truly tedposting”

David Skrbina

Skrbina is an academic who has spent decades trying to start up an area of propaganda, sorry, philosophy that argues against all modern technology. He discusses Ted in his classes trying to get his students on board with creating a revolution that will bring us to David's personal LARPland of medieval technology.

He tried to get elected with the Green Party once, utterly failed. You will see him praising Ted as a “revolutionary of our times” in Ted’s books, or defending him whenever there is a TV series about Ted. There is no love lost between Ted K fans however, as his book “The Metaphysics of Technology” has been criticized by Ultimo Reducto, another Ted K fan:

The author tries to downplay the human sacrifices that some of these ancient civilizations carried out, saying that the supposed psychological effects on the people of modern societies (basically rendering them insensitive or less compassionate), allegedly caused by the fictional violence in movies, videogames and television, would be much worse than the very real thousands of deaths (and the subsequent terror) caused by human massive sacrifices in those ancient civilizations. And he isn’t even fazed!

In the same book Skrbina calls for a ban on all guns saying the solution to guns is not “more guns, but less guns”. Ted himself is not opposed to guns and states any attempt to ban small scale technology is impractical at best.

The anti tech collective

This is pretty much what it says on the tin. It's a bunch of zealots that aim to further Ted's cause and go after anyone who dares spout heresy against Saint Uncle Ted. They have a YouTube channel where they upload interviews and public discussions which they announce on their website.

image009.png

In a recent spat with a Ted Kaczynski archive, the anti-tech collective said they expected the site would soon be taken down by Fitch & Madison (the publisher of Teds books, and made of 'anti-tech revolutionaries'). This was due to claims of copyright, but also because it is made up of “pro-tech leftists” and likely because the site uploads material (some of which are his journals) that does not show Ted in the best way.

Which leads to..

The supercilious spat

Prepare yourselves for zealous snobbery of epic proportions

Ted K’s journals were bought at auction by a pretentious artist who gets paid a ton to display collections of ‘spectacle’.

At a London art gallery Danh Vo and Julie Ault put on an exhibition which included a framed single sheet of paper with Ted’s codes on it, copied down by the filmmaker James Benning:

image011.jpg

So, after being bought at auction, the journals were being shared between this small group of artists.

And it’s obvious Julie corresponds regularly with Ted K because Ted wrote a glowing acknowledgment to her in his latest book ‘Anti-Tech Revolution’.

So, it’s highly likely that the journals are also shared between a small group of self-described ‘anti-tech revolutionaries’ like Ted K’s publishers Fitch and Madison.

In 2021, FBI scans of some of the journals were released for free online by California University.

These journals were then uploaded by the Ted Kaczynski archive mentioned. These journals, again, include things they would probably not like the public seeing.

One includes Ted planning to torture animals:

“…I hadn’t previously been troubled by rats around here, but I just discovered that my pack has been chewed up so badly that it is nearly ruined, though I guess I can patch it up well enough to get my gear home…. This means some deadfalls are going to be set. I hope I catch one of those [expletive] alive—I will torture it to death in the most fiendish manner I can devise.”

Which he later admitted to ‘succeeding’ in doing to a bunch of animals including dogs and squirrels:

“I tortured small wild animals (two mice, one flying squirrel, and one red squirrel, as far as I can remember offhand)”

“In such circumstances, it would be much easier and safer to simply kill the dog and get rid of a pest,”

“A bullet wound right in her rectum. A horrible way to kill an animal. So painful. A slow death caused by internal bleeding.”

Another includes Ted thinking about killing a 3 year old girl he was aiming at with his gun:

“It would be easy to take the little bitch out. But then the big bitch could get away.”

The archive was then threatened with being taken down as two DMCA’s were sent to the server owners and domain provider, with a lawyer specializing in copyright law CC’d in.

Around the same time, some luddite ignoramus tried to bait who they thought the website owner was into revealing themselves, but when that failed, they just resorted to weak ass internet threats:

It’s obviously amusing to see a bunch of luddites opportunistically use copyright law to control how Ted’s work is distributed.

Even funnier is when it results in them eating their own, as happened with a die-hard Ted K fan who recorded a 6 hour audiobook of ‘Anti-Tech Revolution’ and then got rewarded with a DMCA, with no further explanation:

jorgecluni is very likely Alex Uziel, the president of the publishing company set up to solely publish Ted K’s books. Here’s an example of his ‘return to monkey’ posting on reddit of all places:

Truly, the industrial revolution and its consequences are a disaster for the human race.

BTW I don't have the privileges to post this in Community Watch, so I wasn't sure whether to post it here or in Prospering Grounds, but if a mod thinks this would fit best somewhere else feel free to move it.

Edit: Ok cool Prospering Grounds it is, I can keep updating the thread and open to ideas for adding more stuff.

I think Prospering Grounds is the correct place to put it.

On the topic of Ted K, YouTuber Keith Woods has done a response to Ted’s philosophy:

(If a janny could please archive this it’d be appreciated)

tedposters are always people who’ve only read his worthless manifesto and agree with the thought-provoking message of “technology… is BAD,” or have read Anti-Tech Revolution but are too lazy to carry out anything purposeful or follow the two entire chapters that outline what a vanguard should do to be effective (essentially, they’re the “leftists” that swarm to something revolutionary and plague it like locusts to crops)

kaczynski was an asshole but distance the genuinely good points in Anti-Tech Revolution from him, his manifesto and his idolizers

Taking Uncle Ted's beliefs to heart is pretty foolish but I will agree this can ring in some fun content.

Also OP is a faggot and there has never been a community around Ted's writings that actually abides by Ted's writings. If you're online you're already painfully hypocritized, if you can't stand alone, you've already failed to gleam from his teachings.

If you can make something out of this, make something out of it, but unless you have a steadily-flowing REAL community or individual that consistently puts out content that's either funny our conversation-worthy, you're just doing journo-scum work for the FBI and pedaling the same uncorroborated talking points they always put out about individuals who buck the system and court others to do as well. 50Tb of childporn found on Windows XP laptops and etc.

Burn in hell.

"That wasn't real [IDEOLOGY]! If they'd just followed [IDEOLOGY] PROPERLY instead of doing [THAT] they'd be successful and not cringe!"

Also, nice "anyone who doesnt like it is dum dum and cringe (and maybe also fed)". You have surely persuaded me to join your cause.

Interestingly enough, through Ted's more recent writing, he actually advocates for things like nuclear energy. The entire premise of his writing being pure ludditism is absurd on it's face. He just concisely and succinctly lists the ways in which he had personally seen the road to hell paved with good intentions and endeavored to lay out an action plan for it's remuneration. Instead people scream "schizo" and take 3rd parties at their word when they've been swarmed on by FBI agents and given a hard deal to escape with their petty and honorless lives. The reality of intellectualism being viewed with utter contempt is one of the many ways the utterly destructive system keep middling intellect socio- & psychopaths in the highest echelons of operation while basing the entire system around self-defeatist extraction and dull-eyed consumerism. You have to be an utter fool to look at any sort of accurate timelapse of the last 40 years and assume we've been going in the right direction. In that way, Ted will always be right, and he doesn't have to be some turbo right wing ubermensch to be right, he just is, unequivocally, right.

Go ahead and make your thread, there's bound to be milk in the various communities surrounding Ted's writings. But to disrespect and malign his work and expect no push-back is utterly absurd. This is a free speech forum, and I will exercise my right to call OP a faggot, especially when he doesn't even know that he can't directly post threads to the forum without them undergoing a review process and being approved by the forum staff. I smell a fed, at best a newfag, so show us what ya got little man. Hit Ted or his supporters where it counts. So far it's a weak showing of screenshots and a handful of 'literally whos' coupled with actual FBI & journoscum talking points. Completely uncorraborated in their showing of evidence, in both long-term and short-term manifestation.

Sympathetic up to that point
Completely and utterly missing the elephant in the room

yes, which makes it worse that kaczynski painted his credible anti-economic points as “anti-tech”: it makes them look backward
Interestingly enough, through Ted's more recent writing, he actually advocates for things like nuclear energy.
“…the self-prop systems need energy for the maintenance of their power here and now, whereas radioactive waste represents only a danger for the future and, as we've emphasized, natural selection favors self-prop systems that compete for power in the present with little regard for long term consequences. So nuclear power-plants continue to be built, while the problem of dealing with their burned-out fuel is largely neglected… In practice, much ofthe radioactive material will escape into the environment.” pg. 62, Anti-Tech Revolution

Thorium-salt reactors are extremely clean and last for a very long time.

Oh boy, this is gonna draw some ire for sure. But all in all, this is an interesting topic and candidate for a Community Watch.

I've seen the kind of these people who make sure to quote everything Uncle Ted said but they also make sure to put everything from him in fucking social media. Which is the mother of all ironies.

Nice catch, OP. I'll be looking forward to this.

If people genuinely looked up to Ted and his teachings they would've gone caveman a long time ago and not posting on some forum or using the internet.
