Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

We need more good arcade racing games which arent mario kart and are on the pc. Just replayed Lego Racers 1 and its a fantastic fucking game.
I'd kill for another Burnout 3, Paradise was a travesty with its completly shoe-horned open world design.
Who the fuck is saying 2023 is a good year for gaming, let alone a golden one? It's probably the least bad year in the 2020s so far, but still a really bad year.
Motherfucking this.

The 1990s were the best era for gaming, not because every game was a gem, but because the improvement was so fast. We started the decade with Super Mario World and finished with Quake III. I'm not sure what even has changed in gaming since 2013.
I would say the 90s were the best cause the rules weren't yet properly defined, which led to ton of experimental and cool games. Personally even if I'm a zoomer I would say 96-2006 was the best decade for gaming ever just cause of how many retroactively iconic games released, the level of experimentation and fun games had and the average quality of even objectively bad games were good. The largest libraries of games I have are from the SNES (150), the GameCube PS1 PS2 (40-50) and the pc from 95-2008 (60-80), which is a pretty good indication of just how high quality the average game was (just by virtue of being finished products if I might add).
The total and utter death of optimization and compression, leading to 100gb+ games, and soon, miserable loading times without an SSD
Also this, I've been ranting and raving about it from 2016 about 40 GB games back then but the idea is the same. People take storage space, optimization and internet bandwidth for granted these days and I always think along the lines of "If I can get 60 high quality PS1 and PS2 games with a better overall experience instead of one AAA modern game which has a very long runtime and has a boring overall experience for the same specs and storage space, I'm going to take the former". Especially as someone who pirates everything this shit is annoying. OG Age of Empires 1 with a HD mod and source port is 1 GB, AoE remastered is 30-50 GB. Command and conquer remasters are 20 GB each, OpenRA command and conquer source ports are 300 MB. Fuck Off.

i just don't get it
how the fuck can several games in the 100gb+ range come out at the same time and expect to be bought?
I'm pretty sure at this point a lot of companies are expecting or at the very least hoping that you only play their games now. Especially if there is a Live Service component attached.

But to address your point, I've yet to have seen many right-wing people come up with any real alternatives to modern media that weren't just whiny complaints
I find it hilarious that faggots like you still exist on this site when we have to hide out on TOR for daring to allow people to say nigger or disparage pedophile trannies.

Anyway, I don't think Starfield will be good because Bethesda has changed at its core. You bought Skyrim and despite some scummy DLC you had a full game with a beautiful mod community pushing the engine to limits never before seen. That was killed by Bethesda's greed, and FO4 floundered in regards far beyond just a butchering of the Fallout setting. It was lazy, poorly designed, and was used as a vehicle for creation club jewery.

And in terms of aesthetic and setting, both Skyrim and Fallout 3 had some serious grit

Porting Killer7 to PC was a bad idea. Mouse aim replacing a wobbly PS2 joystick makes the game absolutely piss-easy even on hard. I didn't enjoy getting punched in the face over and over again ("don't make me say it again... I'M A CLEANER") but it affects the tone. It makes the game feel less substantial when you're blasting absolutely everyone with no fear at the lumbering monster slowly walking towards you.

Mass Effect 2 was not a good game. It dropped the Reapers and replaced it with fanservice and a villain you barely fought and was never a real threat.

Bioware has been dying since. Now they take ten years to make a Dragon Age game, probably because they have to keep updating the script so it's woke for current year. Expect a sidequest involving a trooned out kid and gender-affirming magic.

I tried Mass Effect and it seemed like a boring cover shooter to me. I don't get the appeal.

Most quests were "go from point A to point B to talk to C" or "do this linear mission".
The story was generic and bland. Nothing interesting unless it's literally your first SciFi. "These aliens we know nothing about just attack FNR".

I don't get it. Why is it brought up so often? It's no different than your generic space shooter...

Because, like you said, it's "My first Sci-Fi" for a lot of people.

That and the romance stuff. I don't like to use the term "plebian", in fact I think I never have, but in this case it's appropriate: Plebian features for plebians with plebian interests.

I can't explain it.

I loved Mass Effect when it came out, but I can't really tell you why. It probably was my first sci fi thinking about it because the only thing I really liked before that was Star Wars and I hadn't gotten into Star Trek yet.

Mass Effect is boring as fuck and plays like hot garbage though. RPG fags can give Mass Effect 2 all the shit they want for "not being an RPG" and "not sticking with the story" but the shit was actually fun and exciting by going all out on the shooter aspect.

That being said, I can't really play any of them now cause the ending was so fucking garbage in Mass Effect 3.

The amount of people who absolutely seethe when I tell them I don't romance anyone in any of the fucking games. Well, that's not true, I would start to romance Ashley in the first one but then always blow her up.

The animation movie tie in games of the early 2000s were great games. Even if I'm a bit blinded by nostalgia, the Activision dreamworks movie tie in games were really good, the Disney movie tie in games were really good. The ones which come to my mind from childhood are
Toy story 2 buzz lightyear to the rescue for n64 pc ps1 (great collectathon platformer)
Tarzan for the ps1 n64 (great 2d action platformer)
Madagascar for the GameCube ps2 pc (great game with different gameplay for levels, minigames, unlockables and the like)
Ice age 2 the meltdown for the PC ps2 (yes the famous scrat platformer)
Kung fu panda for the pc PS3 (good arcade brawler)
Bee movie the game for PC PS2 (open world game with missions, jobs interactibles)
Sinbad legend of the seven seas for the pc (pretty decent hack n slash action game)
Brother bear for the pc (decent 3d action platformer)
Over the hedge for the pc PS3 (excellent action game with collectathon elements)
Aladdin nasiras revenge for the ps1 pc (great 3d action platformer)
Ive replayed all of them within the past year and they're all legitimately good games, especially considering how boring and grindy modern games are. Too bad all the studios which worked on them were sent to the sweatshops.

Not animation related, but the Peter Jackson King Kong game was good.

poorly designed on principle to reinforce a shitty yet addictive gameplay loop of finding new, slightly less obsolete weapons.
Isn't that basically just what a video game is, at this point? Even fighting games and pinball sims have grinding and unlocks. Games will actually get trashed with negrates if they lack the requisite amount of time-wasting bullshit for their price point.
