Just want to echo that the overlapping records is definitely "using my sister's id to score" territory.
My former sister in law was a junkie and used her sister's info at multiple hospitals back in the late 90s, which caused that sister to be banned from hospitals she had never even been to.

People don’t get banned from hospitals. Doctors can discharge you, but only
with the appropriate paperwork - from a private practice.
Hospitals have very little action they can take regardless of how a patient abuses the system.
The flags people talk about are MIPs surveys like Patients has been readmitted 3 times in 30 days - meaning your hospital has poor outcomes or alerts for staff like this patients is known to be violent, but they don't flag for drug seeking. that is obvious in a clinical review. As soon as the patient tells you they are allergic to - fill in the blank.
And even your most green registration person knows when someone is BSing a name.
If a patient comes into an ER reporting symptoms they are triaged. They can say they are Ronald McDonald and they were discharged two minutes prior- it doesn’t matter they are still treated in an ER.
Anyone that says they are banned from a hospital I would side eye them, because that would take a trespassing order from a court. I doubt it was a case of mistaken identity. They are exaggerating or they were the one acting crazy in the hospital.
Edited to add: the 90’s were different before electronic records anything was possible

Back in the 90s I was infamous for abusing the NHS as a tourist. I'd show up and tell them my ID was stolen and I'd get treated. My luck ran out after I nearly got killed. Spent years paying that off.

usually "banned from the hospital" means the hospital will do the minimum required by law in the ER, and won't admit you otherwise. The USA at least, only requires that the ER 'stabilize' you - and maybe only if they accept Medicare (almost all do, but some don't). https://www.cms.gov/regulations-and-guidance/legislation/emtala has details.
Drug-seeking patients are almost always already 'stable' and so can be 'banned'.

EPIC and Cerner are mutually compatible. EPIC can pull in Cerner data and vice versa. So, that wouldn't have helped her.

Good to know. I haven't worked at a Cerner facility in a long time. I'm far more familiar with EPIC and Meditech (ugh, it's horrible).

I can't tell what the post from Lacey has to do with the Hospice Nurse Penny video, but if anyone wants an enjoyable wholesome Instagram follow, Hospice Nurse Penny is doing great work. As her username suggests, she's a hospice nurse, and she's on a one-woman mission to normalize talking about death and the dying process. Her videos are candid, funny, touching, and very informative. I really enjoy them. Even if you have never lost a loved one or known anyone who used the services of home hospice, I recommend watching Penny. She's super comforting about uncomfortable and sad topics and I think the openness is good for everyone.
If Lacey is trying to say that Penny is in the wrong for only using morphine, fuck her.
Particularly in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota), there have been issues with the medical examiner. I forget which specific wealthy MSP suburb Chelsea is/was from (and honestly, they're all identical, sorry cake eaters), but the Ramsey County medical examiner's office has been in the headlines in a bad way recently. They have better things to do than autopsy someone who either overdosed or died from an illness that was reasonably expected to be fatal. Often, an autopsy isn't performed if the decedent is known to have died from a terminal illness. Saint Paul and environs are located in Ramsey County.

Athena can pull to/from EPIC as well. Most places have either powershare, Ambra or life imaging that allow electronic sharing of radiology. When it gets pulled into EPIC it gives "implied consent" for care everywhere.

Every time a cow tries to pull a sneaky I end up learning something new about things I otherwise wouldn’t have encountered. Chantal’s Nigerian Kuwaiti prince taught me a lot about their culture, Chris Chan scoring that Barbussy taught me about how the prison system wrangles tards (and that humanity finds a new low every day), and now I know what to avoid if I ever want to get addicted to opioids and fake my own death. Here it's definitely not unusual to have to wait three months for a coroner to start on a body, and that's if there's pressing matters like life insurance involved.

A doctor, coroner or hospice nurse has put cause of death Then the mortician puts certification and fact of death along with time and other demographic which is filed with the office of Vital Records. And likely the death is entered into the system before it’s printed.
I’m not sure why so many are convinced the family got around these laws, but I seriously doubt they did. If somebody knows how, please tell.
The fact that it’s in the system means she’s dead.
Her sister clearly is a nutcase (also) and believed Chelsea was mistreated. So her way of grieving is to start some movement to do whatever her scrambled brain thinks needs to be done.
I’m just hoping to see the death certificate, with cause of death, which will be available once the mortician finishes up.

I get the feeling people are highly skeptical of anything related to Chelsea and her family, and the sudden and bizarre circumstances that have occurred are hard to make sense of or navigate without having doubts. Since she's in the system, it's more than difficult to outright deny that fact, but it leaves so many other things up in the air.
Hopefully Chelsea's family doesn't give the mortician too hard a time, they deal with enough crazy bullshit.

I'd say she's wrong if she's only using morphine, that doesn't touch breakthrough cancer pain. You need fentanyl for that.
But yeah, past a certain point, you don't really care if a patient gets addicted to painkillers as long as they're not in pain.

Again, this was the 90s, in the suburbs outside of Boston. I don't know what other word but "banned" describes not being willing to treat someone because of past seeking behavior but it's essentially what @reptile baht spaniard rid said — you're not dying so we're not doing anything for you. My point was 100% Chelsea pretended to be her sister for drugs because was a gross junkie.

I think the skepticism is warranted because aside from that entry in the database, every other piece of evidence points to someone faking their death for internet attention, per Occam's Razor.
I mean, what's more likely: That someone who's feigned having a debilitating chronic illness for which she's been going on about hospice care and VSED for the past three months has finally faked her death, posted an obituary that was obviously generated by a computer, and is now writing updates as her "sister" to continue gaining e-clout? Or that this person really did die, ironically enough, and her actual family 100% believed her histrionics, wrote an obituary with ChatGPT for some unknown reason, and continues to post updates on her social media accounts in her memory begging for more subscribers?
To be fair, I think it's an extremely likely scenario that Chelsea did kick the bucket, but rather than dying of sepsis or some other typical munchie complication that can be milked for pity, she died of an accidental OD due to drugs that her family helped supply her with. And because her family actually believed her and is just as unhinged as she was, they won't accept that that's her cause of death -- instead, they fully believe that Chelsea died of Stiff Person Syndrome, that she really needed pain medication that nobody else would give her, and the mean ol' hospital docs still won't believe her about any of it, even after she literally died. I personally wouldn't be shocked if we never see Lacey post any proof of death that might allude to what the official cause was, just more bitching about how they're being "denied" whatever.
