I'm part of discord group where we discuss munchies. We discussed Chelsea while she was alive.

A member of the group has reported this week that they got her death certificate. The official cause of death is "complications of malnutrition and dehydration." There are no secondary causes listed, but there are some ACME ICD codes: E46 and E86. Underlying cause code is E46.

Other members report that ICD 10: E46 is unspecified protein calorie malnutrition. E86 is volume depletion, dehydration.

The conclusion is that she VSED (voluntarily stopping eating and drinking). There's no mention of any of her supposed chronic illnesses.

Chelton killed herself.

And there's NO mention at all on the death certificate of her SPS, which she claimed was what was killing her.
If that had contributed to her death it would certainly have been on the cert.

Do we know how ambitious this autopsy was? I gather Burger tox screens at autopsy aren’t routinely performed, and even when they’re done, it’s often up to the ME to ask for specific tests. (I have picked this up from watching Dateline, so my source is of course unassailable. Keith doesn’t lie.)

I am being reductionist in my thinking, because Chelton was so mental I could believe she would have actually done that.
However...

I do still also believe that there must have been drugs involved somewhere.
Did we ever get confirmation that an autopsy was done? Or was it just a hospital doctor signing the death certificate?
I must hunt back and see what the last photo she posted was. Damn sure she never looked like a VSED patient in any I've ever seen.

Edit: this March 13th post is the last time we see her fat face. It's still fat.

Three days without water, three weeks without food is part of a very rough mnemonic for remembering survival times. Still, I assume most actual VSED patients die from dehydration too fast to burn much fat.

My theory? She fucked around and found out. More specifically: "ohhh woe is me! I must have IV hydration!" No.

Edit: I thought about it for 2 seconds and decided to explain. I think she tried to claim she could not take anything by mouth, her nurses told her she absolutely could, and she decided to try waiting them out like a toddler. Dehydration can kill quickly, especially if you're working up a sweat shaking all about, I'm guessing she didn't realize just how bad an idea this was, especially given the nurses were used to her shit and probably assumed she was drinking SOMETHING. All together I could see her managing to dehydrate herself into a heart attack within only a couple of days.

I've just remembered that Chelton claimed she had stopped eating and drinking at the start of January, which is hilarious.
She later walked it back and said she had always taken hydration, but there's no coincidence that her ket supply was removed right around this time, end of December I think.

I could see her doing the whole "if I can't have my lifesaving pain relieving meds then I won't be able to carry on". She was dramatic and mental enough over a claimed condition.

There's still a niggle in the back of my mind about drugs, but with no way to prove it we are at a dead end.

Yes. Meggie is a very recent example. Died in November from kidney failure after starving and dehydrating herself for months on a diet of opiates, ketamine, and benzos. Claimed that in addition to real MS she was refusing to treat, she also had a form of leukodystrophy so rare it was only found in her. Really she had an insignificant gene mutation that was probably doing sweet fuck all and her progressive cognitive decline was from her absurd drug habit but it was good enough to get her on hospice until she died.

Emet Tauber is another. She went into a residential hospice for her fake disease that she admit in the 11th hour was just psych issues she should have been treated for. At first she just went off food but continued to drink water and she almost got kicked out of the hospice when the realized she wasn't actually dying. When it came time to decide if she really wanted to croak or go back out into society and figure out who she was beyond the fake illness and fake gender, she chose to stop drinking liquids and die.

Not quite the same but Sofia Rodriguez was an extreme anorexic and opiate addict who died of cardiac arrest after starving and drugging herself for years under the banner of EDS and a mysterious GI condition. Potassium crashed after she was released from an unsuccessful refeeding attempt and stopped her heart.

Not that my opinion changes it from trust-me-bro, but I am in the same group and agree re: trustworthiness of the person who released this info. I haven't seen the death cert either, but this isn't a person who comes in claiming they have hot insider knowledge of people all the time or anything else that would make me doubt that this particular story was true.
