Here's a master's thesis that's about a billion times more valuable than someone, whose claim to fame is her boobs, trotting around the world pretending to be a U.N. envoy: On Computable Numbers, With an Application to the Entscheidungsproblem. As a software engineer, Flynt/Wu should be familiar with Alan Turing's famous 1936 paper that set forth the theoretical basis for the Turing machine.
And Claude Shannon's 1937 master's thesis, A Symbolic Analysis of Relay and Switching Circuits laid the groundwork for digital circuitry. Again, about a billion times more valuable than the self-aggrandizing, globe-trotting, brain-dead actress.
That's two off the top of my head. Research would uncover literally tens of thousands of examples.
Using Flynt/Wu's deranged criteria, Sally Field should get a Nobel Prize in economics for her profound work in the field of poverty.
There really aren't words to express how utterly stupid Flynt/Wu is, especially when you consider that he gets to live his privileged white male life because of his husband's academic credentials.
What I find so funny about this is because Jolie has visited some war zones (even though in doing so she'd have been protected by at least a company of heavily armed men) to witness the after effects of sexual violence she can somehow teach a whole course at the LSE.
Know who'd be more valuable in these situations to academia? Victims of sexual violence in warzones being studied and having their experiences catalogued and placed into a study in order to better roll out treatment and psychological programs. Adaptations could be tried for areas of warzones and ruins with little to no available resources.
The London School of Economics has fallen from grace ever since the Labour Government was booted out. Mostly because, for a school of supposed economics it did a
lot of pontificating and report making on stuff that wasn't economical at all. It's also chock full of the loonie lefties who're always trying to find the next crazy scheme to ensure they keep their relevance while the current government relies on other bodies and think tanks.
The Masters program is one such thing and is basically being used to signal-boost the
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.
Guest lecturers are nothing new in Universities.
The thing is they tend to have
some form of heavy hitting experience to back them up and you only need to look at the other guest professors to see Jolie is the odd one out.
William Hague was a foreign secretary for four years, bringing to bear a
lot of British government experience to his position. Relevant considering it's the London School of Economics.
Rees is the current secretary general of the League and is a lawyer of some note, being, if I remember rightly, one of the people to call the Dutch out for their cowardice and abuse during the Sbrencia Massacre.
Then we have Connors, who's the Chief of the Special Procedures Branch at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Or to put in plain english: She's the one in charge of bringing human rights abusers to the Hague.
So, rounding that off is Jolie, who went to some sanitized warzones with a lot of armed men, and looked all pouty at cameras while subtly waggling her (now fake) tits at the same time to get people to pay attention.
She is quite literally there as a gimmick to pique people's interest (which is why academic circles are condemning her as a guest lecturer) and is unlikely to bring anything relevant to the table.
Meanwhile Wu ignores the two
actual high powered women there who've basically dedicated their entire careers to this subject because her spending ten seconds on google to find out about the more relevant people would take her from Twitter.
But then, Connors and Rees aren't her
ideal woman. Jolie is beautiful, full pouty lips and amazing tna. So of course Wu wants to defend the gorgeous girl than the two "plain" looking women who have actual experience.
