COVID Conspiracy Theorists and other idiots - This is not a political thunderdome or gay slapfight thread.

The furin cleavage site didn't exist at all until Sars-Cov-2. It's like if no other coronavirus had "legs" and the suddenly Sars-Cov-2 shows up with legs. Where did it get the legs? They were probably stapled on at the local lab. The ancestral humans all have legs in that picture, and slowly over time they evolved to use them.
Yeah the virus mutated and gained adaptation to help it spread... pretty common thing viruses do because they create trillions of copies of themselves. That's kinda why there are new vaccines every year for common viruses such as the flu. Are you trolling or actually this stupid?

Funnily enough before Moderna, Stéphane Bancel was the CEO of BioMérieux. During this time they worked on the infamous Wuhan Lab, he helped build it. I wonder if he kept any connections? It was pretty fortuitous that his new company, Moderna, somehow managed to design that covid shot so fast, a company that had no drugs on the market before covid.
They developed the vaccine so quickly because years of research were conducted on previous variants that thankfully were eradicated, along with using MRNA - a groundbreaking new way to create vaccines very quickly compared to old methods. Plus since it was you know, an epidemic, so every scientific mind and their dog was working on this obviously. This is pretty common knowledge, it was all over the news and Internet when it came out lol. Keep drinking that kool aid retard.

If you're digging this up: if I might add: almost every virus has some protein or something which binds to some kind of protein or something in its host's cells. Why is the furin cleavage where we draw the line?

That's the funny thing: despite Lechin trying to make his argument stronger by using scientific terminology most people don't understand, what he's saying was debunked as bullshit months ago. Seriously, I Googled "furin clevage" and found this article within like two seconds. What he's arguing is pixie dust.

On a side note, kudos to the author for making this a surprisingly easy read. Usually when I've seen scientific letters such as this it's like you're trying to read Shakespeare without translations on the opposite page lol, it's easy to digest and pretty interesting despite being short

So, your belief is that Anthony Fauci dishonestly said masks were useless against Covid so he could keep masks back from the general public for the use of healthcare workers. Is that accurate? Let me know if I'm misstating your beliefs.

Do you believe that masks are actually useful against Covid? Or do you believe Fauci's claims that masks are useful are dishonest/incorrect?

As previously stated, my belief is that our public health officials do more harm than good when they lie to the public, would you not agree?

As previously stated, my belief is that our public health officials do more harm than good when they lie to the public, would you not agree?
Oh, come on. Just address my questions, will you? Responding to questions with unrelated questions isn't informative or entertaining. I'm not trying to debate you.

I don't consider myself a public health expert or a virologist, which is why I rely on our public health experts to not lie. Lying erodes trust.

I'm also not a psychologist so I wouldn't pretend to know why they lied to us.

With all of that said, perhaps one of you experts could answer if you think it does more harm than good that they lied to us? If not, why not?

And yet here you are, refusing to simply answer if you think our public health officials should be lying to us...
I realize this is probably minimized, but the man literally did:
No, unless it's in some improbable scenario unrelated to their jobs. (e.g., if they have Anne Frank hiding in the attic and lie to the Gestapo about it, that kind of thing)
Fauci has come under some pretty intense fire from within the public health community for playing fast and loose. His rationale, that the toilet-paper run justified ensuring that PPE was available for hospitals has a certain ring to it - especially when one considers that China had been buying up global PPE supplies in december (some estimates even mark it back as early as november). However, the short-term gains of such a strategy pale in comparison to the long-term complications drawn up as guidelines changed back and forth, individual states and cities operated extremely sluggishly and inconsistently, and people who still think jokes from 2012 are fresh and exciting have a tendency to not let go of things -- not to mention, wheresoever they can find one instance of something that is a pretty big flub, they will stretch that to apply to ever other instance regardless of context as they please.

The thing is, he's been censured by people working in public health ever since. There is plenty to critique both him and the CDC of in their handling of covid - but that's not really the aim here. The aim here is and has always been to use this instance of his cavalier attitude to justify why the inconvenience of wearing a mask for a year and a half when indoors was, apparently, tantamount to stalinism. It has always been to use his cavalier attitude to try to delegitimize vaccines in a retarded way (I am still waiting for the health complications I was promised, and continue to be promised literally any time a celebrity dies), ensuring that absolutely no meaningful focus gets put onto the pharma companies raking in gorillions and western countries buying up developing-world supplies that they then let rot on the shelf thanks to conspiratards who would sooner buy the other drugs that big pharma dishes out as if this were some sick own.

It's pretty easy to recognize that the federal government has every authority to require its employees to wear masks and to get vaccinated as a requirement to keep their job, but that it has no such authority to try to enforce that on the private sector - well, unless you repeatedly demonstrate an inability to read. It's easy to yell at the administration when it oversteps its authority, but also to not sperg out when it operates normally, unless you're too stupid and too impatient to actually read where its authority derives from because anything longer than a headline is a headache. Like most of the country. I really wish politics would go back to the good old days, when it wasn't quite as much a lightning rod for every retard with an internet connection.

I had to give you a rainbow, because it's optimistic you think he's going to read all that, much less understand it.

And 9 times out of 10 it's some celeb who was notorious for years for being a dope fiend or drunk of some sort.
I've weighed in on this before, but suddenly I am reminded of this:

Not to mention that yes, it's literally every time. I've heard an idiot blame Queen Elizabeth's death on it. Like come on, she was what, 96? Had to die sometime.

And yet...

Biden administration extends vaccine mandate to large U.S. companies

Sweeping new mandates apply to businesses with more than 100 employees, whose workers would have to be inoculated or face weekly testing. The White House estimates new policies will impact about 80 million workers, or two-thirds of the country’s workforce.

But the types of people populating this thread think anybody who challenged this sort of shit was some crackpot. The fact is, the government lied and overstepped their boundaries at every step along the way, so why would anybody be surprised the trust is gone? A whole lot of people turned into eager little fascists at the first opportunity, and there are consequences for that.

**EDIT - Since I was thread-banned to protect the circlejerk, I'll reply here:

I'm aware the mandates were eventually overturned, that wasn't part of the discussion. Creating a strawman is dumb, you can scroll up and read what I said. The point is that for those who lost their jobs or were forced to get the vaccine, that doesn't make them feel better about trusting their government. Particularly because those people were lied to and forced to do something by their government which they should have never been forced to do. Now when the government needs compliance for <insert gay reason here> a far larger segment of the public will say "fuck off, you lied repeatedly before, never again".

The discussion was around TRUST, and how lying to the public erodes that. That is all. Clearly they shit the bed completely, and you guys saying "well at least Trump's Supreme Court overturned it eventually", sounds retarded. Don't be retarded.

Also if you're patient you can get your totally effective Pfizer booster subscription half off during the Summer Steam Sale.

Are you genuinely this retarded, or are you baiting? That's a September 9th, 2021 article. Let me link to this one that came out in January 2022 by using its headline, because I'm convinced you may suffer a brain hemorrhage if you read more than a single sentence in a single sitting.
US Supreme Court blocks Biden's workplace vaccine mandate
Like I said:
has no such authority to try to enforce that on the private sector
And the administration faced a lot of fire for being stupid and loose and even trying such a dumb stunt, which was deserved. It threatening to pull federal funds from places that slurped on that teat is fully within its purview though, which the SCOTUS agreed with.

...Did you really think that mandate was in place? Like, you highlighted "new mandates apply to businesses with more than 100 employees," which, uhh. So not only have we proved that you can't read your own articles that you link, we've also proven that you're unemployed and have been for at least over a year. I can't think of any other scenario in which you would think those policies actually went into play.

Why are you sperging over wearing a mask so much? People in densely populated areas like Japan and China have been doing it for years, long before Covid19 was a thing. I get it that they're stuffy, but unless you're doing physical labor or something it's really not that big of a deal to put on a mask for your 15 minute grocery store trip. Plus the mask mandate ended months ago now. It's not even worth the mindshare.

EDIT: Nevermind, ya got banned as I was replying to you lol

I honestly wonder how long the vaccine sperging will continue, we had people in this thread claiming everyone was going to die of aids a year ago which never happened. At least the Millerites had the humility to admit they were wrong when their apocalypse didn't happen. Feels like they'll still be sharting themselves over every celebrity death ten years from now with how things are going

I Googled "furin clevage"
Heh.

Jokes aside, the furin cleavage site shares similarity (19 nucleotide long sequence) with a Moderna Patent from 2018, the chances of this happening through random mutation are astronomically low. There is a paper calculating a .0000000000321% that this happens naturally. The article you googled doesnt touch on the moderna patent at all. But this one does. Frontiers in Virology Journal Article

There is a government database called BLAST where you can search up any gene sequence you want. All kinds of genetic sequences end up in BLAST, especially lots of patented gene sequences. (Yes, companies can actually own genetic sequences) It's part of the National Library of Medicine. The only thing that has this sequence is the Moderna patented sequence.

The "CTCCCT...etc are the nucleotides. What are nucleotides: https://www.genome.gov/genetics-glossary/Nucleotide

100% identity

Just funny that the guy helps design the Lab, and then the Covid virus shares a bit of one of their Patents, and then miraculously Moderna happens to have a drug in the works for it, and then they make billions and billions of dollars, even though previously they had zero drugs to market before this one. Genetic sequences are like fingerprints, and Moderna has a grubby one directly on Sars-Cov-2. There's is no need to be upset at me, it is what it is. But you'll get tired trying to hand wave something like this away. Frustrating to think people might have made this, and then used it to make ridiculous amounts of money.

I don't generally like thread-banning, but this is like the fourth time I'm about to display that you genuinely don't know what you're arguing, dude.

Here, I even archived it (https://archive.is/VcLZs hyperlinking to archive seems to be sharting everywhere) because Huffpo is gross. A stay was put on the mandate nearly immediately. Well before its original cutoff line, January 4th. While it was in the stay, it could not be implemented. It was ruled, repeatedly, and appealed up to the SCOTUS, as unconstitutional - it never went into effect.
Again, get a job, hippie. Individual states can issue mandates, some did. Not the Biden mandate. Fully within the good graces of the constitution. Read it some time. (I know, I know :optimistic: )
The point is that for those who lost their jobs or were forced to get the vaccine, that doesn't make them feel better about trusting their government.
You're attempting to initiate a gotcha! at people who have already expressed skepticism at their government and at big capital, under which pharma falls. No-one here is slavishly, fully trusting the good graces of their government - they're listening to the health experts that staff hospitals across the globe, to the medical colleges and the researchers therein that similarly dot it. You are too lazy to look into it, so you rush to an emotional response and justify it by whatever means - Fauci's cavalier attitude with PPE has nothing to do with NYC's war on outdoor dining. It's funny that you bring up strawmen, because you've been screaming about trust and faith in government to a group of people who largely have neither.

It is pretty entertaining that you've proven unfit to joust windmills. But unfortunately it distracts from laughing at people who think the vaccines will turn them into green cumulons, and who thereby hide their insecurity at being mocked by posting articles they didn't read, quoting videos they didn't watch, and sperging about mandates that never came into effect.
