If I remember correctly, people got pissed at him for eating junk that would gain him his weight back like sodas and doughnuts, not that he had lost the weight. Especially when he claimed them to be "props" for his skits.
Oh and the chiclet's that he had in his mouth, just because they were incredibly jarring to look at when he first got them.
I think a lot of the resentment (not mine, but from what I've seen) comes from the fact that he did it all to himself, asked for help, people gave it and then threw it all away while lying to their faces and treating them like idiots.
I think that's why the begging video went over so poorly even with his fans too; they gave to him once and he treats them like idiots for doing so before coming back for more.
Take his teeth for example; okay maybe his mom didn't let him brush or whatever the story of the day is (his siblings teeth seems fine, his mom's teeth seem okay in photos and Boogie is notoriously lazy and childish but sure, he wasn't allowed or wasn't taught) but he knows now, and he got thousands of dollars worth of dental surgery for free so he could have a fresh start.
And then he openly tells people, while laughing, that he still doesn't brush.
Most people can see the problem but I'll go a little deeper for those who can't (Boogie, that means you):
So like everything with Boogie, it's all lies and lip service. He's SAYING he's grateful but his actions show he's not taking any better care of these teeth than his last set, even with all his excuses removed and with being handed all the tools to succeed.
People invested both financially and emotionally, with no expectation of profit or gain to themselves, in hopes of giving Boogie a second chance at things and not only can he not do the bare minimum; something all of us do twice a day as more of an after thought than even a "chore" of any kind, which is
brush your fucking teeth, but he's laughing and bragging about it.
And he either plays stupid or is so narcissistic he can't understand why that upsets people.
His big defense is "What do you mean I'm ungrateful? I say "thank you" and "I love you" all the time!" And this, I don't know, he REALLY seems to think saying these things, along with "I'm sorry" and "I mean it" mean more than his actions. This is the only point I'll give him that he actually seems pretty autistic on; he thinks saying these things negate all the hurt he may have caused and really doesn't seem to understand why people won't just accept his apologies and move on. They're the magic words, right?
What's the point of saying "Sorry" if people don't say "okay" and move on?? (Spoiler: It's to express the remorse you feel.)
Boogie sees "I'm sorry" like a cheat code that will automatically revert his social standing back to where it was before he (oh I don't know, let's just pull a random example from the list) lied about his sister raping him, whereas it's more like a badge you can wear to emphasis or fully express something that only exists inside of you.
Here's a bit of an easy breakdown for you, Boogie:
If someone gives you a vase and you say "thank you" for the vase but then make a video breaking said vase, and then a chain of tweets laughing about how expensive the vase was and then make three videos stating that anyone who uses "half their brain" would know giving you a vase would mean you'd break it because you've broken every porcelain piece you've been given in the past and how it's none of the donators business what you do once you get the vase and then throw another fit on twitter when people show you how just one week prior you said you would NEVER break another vase and begged people to send you more vases because their love and support is the ONLY thing keeping you alive and you only broke those other vases because you were having a mental breakdown because you HAD to swing that baseball bat around in the china shop or the internet would think you were weak but you see now it was wrong even though you should NEVER have been put in that situation....
Can you see how the "thank you" sort of gets lost in all the actions that prove you were never grateful?
This same logic applies to "I'm sorry" and "I love you." If you just say those words but then constantly repeat actions that counter those claims. The words themselves are meaningless and YOU, Boogie, YOU are the only one who hasn't caught on to that yet.
TLDR; He says people hate that he improved himself but it's the opposite; they hate that he hasn't changed at all.
