The threat of blocking is a big thing in these circles isn't it. It's amazing how much the online curated hugbox is what gives them their sense of power.

The sense of belonging and purpose is a big part of the hugbox too, not to mention the dopamine rush you get from having everyone agree with you and affirm you as a good and smart person. This also incentivizes people to adopt the most extreme permissible views of the hugbox, since they give you more status and affirmation. Of course, these extreme positions get wedges through the mold of your own self-interest, and from there you get the incel to troon pipeline.

So many of those half-jokey posts strike me as OCD behavior--wanting 'validation' sounds like reassurance seeking. C-can you call me by this GIRL NAME to prove I'm really a girl?, constantly asking if they pass, or the constant expectation to be misgendered read as compulsive checks.

The reassurance the troons seek is not of their supposed feminity; they are seeking reassurance that the gang remain faithful to them. It is less of an OCD thing and more of an authoritarian personality / narcissism thing.

I think my absolute favorite troon phenomenon is the TiFs who are so emotionally and physically weak that they almost seem like misogynist caricatures. It's old news by now, but I think it deserves to be remembered, anyone else remember the accusations of transphobia against Rosario Dawson and her family because a TiF tenant started shit? If you don't, here's an article. The lawsuit centers around an alleged assault where Rosario Dawson's 60 year old mother (58 at the time I think?) beat her up. If a man did end up getting beat up by an unarmed sexagenarian woman there's not a chance in hell that he'd tell anyone, not even his best friend. It's a lame Powered by the Apocalypse game (and I generally like PbtA games) that doesn't do anything new with the concept while having a very weak theme (trust me, a PbtA system that tries to handle everything from space opera (The Starcross Galaxy) to magical lesbian cafe (Lesbeans Coffeehouse) is just going to feel vapid and aimless. A major point of PbtA is have a clearly laid out idea of exactly what themes players are going to be building on and having mechanics that force them to engage with them). The book provides a dozen settings that are all way too different for one ruleset to cover well (each one has setting rules, but they aren't much), but even those are entirely optional and you could go even more off the rails... in fact, you don't even need to play lesbians. On page 197 they clarify that you can play "thirsty sword cishets" (though even the swords are optional) which makes you wonder why anyone would even bother with this amorphous game with ugly art.

Getting Together: AKA how to play. It repeats that it is a game for three, in case you forgot somewhere in the white space before the heading. You'll need paper for a relationship map, whatever the fuck that is, and sad lesbian music is recommended. A paragraph on finding a place to play, which I found oddly charming in it's ambivalence as to whether it is better to be glared at as a group of pervs for playing a sex game in public, or risk the dangers of high passions in a private area.
You pick someone to be Third in the first round. No, there is no further explanation at the moment, I hope it arrives in time for the cake cutting. The other two players create Lovers, by means of the in-depth character cration guide provided, so:

Name, star sign, hairstyle, something you tend to do/are coping with .... and that's it? I've seen more rounded parallel lines. This is followed by two pages of suggestions. The poor fucker who got nominated as Third now has to decide which player gets the "jet black side shave" haircut they both try to claim.

Isn't troonism pretty much the definition of irresponsible penis ownership? The thing is sir that women are quite open about how they feel unsafe around all strange "people with a penis" because we have literally no way to know if said "person" is going to use his penis responsibly or not. Every man we cross paths with is treated as Schrödinger's Rapist by every woman, no matter how old they are. We learn at a very young age to do that, because men are stronger than we are pretty much across the board.

Just because you identify as a woman doesn't mean you won't use your penis - or fingers/objects if you're post op - irresponsibly.
