Everything here is "an hour away." Urban sprawl makes "an hour" a reasonable distance most of will drive to go to our favorite restaurant or glory hole. Hell, I have no problem driving 12 hours to spend a weekend at my cabin.

I think the "every three days" thing comes specifically from the book he bought on having sex as a disabled person. The book apparently has a portion that talks about having a consistent schedule. For all we know, if the book told him it's okay to do it at any given time, he would have done it himself.
