Chris is getting precariously close to stumbling across a moment of self reflection as he talks about how Region 10, the hospital, and social workers aren't doing their jobs and helping him. Given enough time thinking about it, even Chris will realize that if half a dozen different state offices for slow-in-the-minds are trying to help you, you're also a slow-in-the-mind.

Even though Chris admits it (at face value), he knows he's a slow in the mind. He knows he has problems and goes to Region 10 for therapy (unfortunately, they can't help with his unhealthy coping). Chris will never come to a realization that no matter how many Region 10's he goes to, he'll treat them the same. He needs to go to a serious institution with aggressive psychotherapy, not basic therapy.

It sucks what happened to her but let's not pretend she's a good person.

That pretty much proved that he would be a huge problem in a group home setting, so he was sent back to jail. It isn't enough to just be crazy. You have to be crazy AND COMPLIANT to get help.

He isn't being told much about what is going on with Barb. He has been told that she is catatonic and unable to take care of herself, but he assumes that she is still living at 14 BC unsupervised with input from family because that was the way it was the last time he was informed of her condition. But if Barb is in that condition, she is in some sort of nursing home, not by herself in 14 BC. We can assume Barb is in no condition to testify, and her decline has been slow enough that it won't be hard to prove she was mentally weak when Chris raped her. Not good for Chris's defense. In fact, this letter is pretty much proof of rape. No matter how unpleasant Barb was in the past, she is clearly the victim here.

Whenever Chris talks about Barb lately, he shit talks her to self justify his lack of concern for her, and complains that she is in the way, blocking him from taking her house away from her and living in it while she rots in a nursing home. Yeah, I've never understood why people need to separate into "Team Bob", "Team Barb", or "Team Chris". I'm on "Team All of Them are Total Garbage" and the rest is just semantics and time-wasting until content rolls in.

That being said, it puzzles me why people get so pissed off about things like the phantasm "reverse mortgage", yet never object to the nearly official canon that "Barb has no dementia/Alzheimers" when that is entirely based on ONE comment from Marvin, somebody who has never even MET Barb IRL! (correct me if I'm wrong on that one). Not blaming Marvin, he was just offering his opinion, not some kind of professional analysis. Also, people suffering with those conditions have good moments and bad moments. Sometimes they can be crystal clear and lucid... the next day they are wandering away from home and getting lost in neighborhoods they've lived in for 40 years.

Why I think Barb has Alzheimers or dementia: from personal experience, people with those conditions tend to lose a lot of weight as they legitimately forget to eat unless reminded to! That is why they have Ensure bottles all over their house. Ensure is not perfect, but it is better than not eating at all. One bottle can make up for several missed meals. But somebody has to remind them that they need to drink it! Does Chris seem up to that kind of regular task? Also, if it ISN'T memory-related, does anyone have an explanation why current Barb is so much skinnier than younger Barb? I don't recall her going through some "Push it to the Limit" Sports Montage arc where she changed her habits and lost weight? That would take work and she is lazy as shit. There's people here who know far more about the Chandlers than I do, and if somebody can explain how she lost so much weight with no visible change in lifestyle, I'd love to hear it!
