Many Americans like to buy these civilian spec ArmaLites. If that is so, case closed, without even considering how the right to bear arms, gun rights 'shall not be infringed.'
 
1. In a self-defense/home-defense scenario it’s better to have a gun with a 30 round magazine chambered in an intermediate cartridge than it is to have a pistol. Kenosha kyle can attest to that.

2. Both invasion and counter-insurgency are utterly impossible against an armed-and-ready populace. That’s why the best military in the world has lost to illiterate farmers with AKs twice.

3. The AR15 specifically is very afforable, reliable, is chambered in quite a few rounds, and can be configured to suit a wide variety of roles.

4. It’s fun to shoot, fuck you.

It's not a matter of need. I don't need to justify why I have or want things. You don't need the internet, why do you use it to say asinine and retarded shit? This. If someone asks you why you need to own a given item, this is not a person interested in a good faith discussion of what utility you derive from that item. To answer that question in earnest would be to tacitly admit the other person has or should be granted control over what you need or don't need. And you can bet they won't stop at defense. You don't need that big truck comrade, you should drive a Tesla instead. You have no need for this canned food and water, we should redistribute it comrade. What do you need with such a big house, comrade? We could house twelve refugee families in here! It really is a brilliant bit of verbal poisoning.
 
We are morally obligated as American citizens to own high powered weapons. Our government is kept from pure tyranny by not one other thing on earth. Every person must own guns. Gun culture will have tragedies, but no guns means gulags.

Ok, sure, if you're trying to defend a mansion.

In a home defense situation you aren't shooting someone 50 feet away, you're shooting someone 10 feet away.

Pistols or short barreled shotguns are going to be what works in home defense. This isn't a range, you need to be able to shoot people basically up until the point they're on top of you, and having two feet of barrel sticking out in front of you going around corners is lunacy.
Power barely matters, if you have armored men storming your house you have bigger problems, and again, use a short barrelled shotgun then if you're concerned about that.

I'm not even a gun nut, it's just basic logic that the idea of a rifle for home defense is silly.

It doesn't really matter if they're 10 or 50 feet away since the AR will be effective at those ranges. You're more likely to hit something with a modern rifle regardless of how far away they are.
You're also forgetting that a standard magazine for an AR is 30 rounds which increases your chances of hitting you target(s).
I'm sure you're being hyperbolic but the standard barrel length is 16 inches. It's not going to hinder you that much just ask Kyle Rittenhouse. Besides, short barrel rifles and shotguns require special permits to have and it's not really worth the headache.
Power does matter ESPECIALLY if they have body armor. Kind of a dumb point. There is such a thing as armor piercing ammo and being able to land shots on more than just the torso (thank you high magazine capacity)
 
i like guns because my father got me into them and we bonded over them.
so when i buy a new one or clean my old ones i get to think of fond childhood memories

Have had personal experience with the Steyr AUG and thought it was a lot of fun. You get used to the ‘armpit loading’ pretty quick and having quick-swappable barrels of different lengths is a neat feature.

Oh! And before I forget, OP is a fag and guns are fucking cool and fun.

Hey do you still need a 5XL shirt because a 3XL for you is manlet size? I think you should be more afraid of heart attacks than a home invader. Spend more on veggies and less on bullets.
