A transgender woman in Tennessee is asking the state to make a consistent ruling about her gender after a government office labeled her a male but police arrested her on a female-specific charge.

Andrea Jones of Morristown, Tenn., who had gender reassignment surgery and has been recognized as a woman by the Social Security office, decided to make a statement after her local Tennessee Department of Safety office refused to let her change the gender on her driver’s license from male to female.

She walked out to the parking lot and removed her shirt, which she reasoned would be acceptable if the state recognized her as male.

Instead she was arrested for indecent exposure.

The police report even referred to her as a man: “Mr. Jones continued to yell that he had the right to show his breasts in public,” it read, “and wanted to be recognized as a female.”

“If I was a male, I had the right to, when I stepped out the door, take off my shirt,” Jones said.

Jones says even though she has a “statement from a surgeon saying I no longer had my testicles,” the Department of Safety told her she would need more proof to be listed as female on her license.

“It’s not right for the state to ask me to be both male and female,” Jones told local TV station WATE 6. “A choice needs to be made. They cannot hold me to both standards.”

The Department of Safety told the news channel that a gender change can be made on a license “if an applicant presents a doctor’s statement indicating that a full sex change has occurred and the procedure is complete.”

Which means for now Jones will be considered a female by the Social Security office but a male to the Department of Safety — and evidently the police department.

You read it and you be the judge of what happened, but as usual the TRA on Twitter left out important details.

Firstly, calling sex "assigned" is misleading because it's an immutable trait of humans. It doesn't change. A woman entering menopause and needing estrogen supplements is still a woman by virtue of sex. A man who has testicular cancer, has both testes removed and needs supplemental testosterone is still male in terms of sex. If somebody is born outside a hospital with no doctor to "assign" their sex they will still be male or female. It is ultimately a fixed trait we are born with.
I know trans communities like to say "assigned gender", but considering this dude is talking about "phenotypes" which are inherently sex-specific, I'll wager this is not about the vague concept of "gender", but sex.

Secondly, what exactly is this point supposed to prove? A woman is still a woman despite getting cross-sex hormones and behaving like a man? No shit! It's almost like messing with your endocrine system and inauthentic behaviour isn't going to change your biology. Was he trying to prove his own point wrong?

Thirdly, I'm gonna make the assumption that he was trying to save his ass with the "against their will" and "forced" parts. Like there's any difference between the two. Newsflash: whether you self-ID as the other sex or not, you're not going to magically transform into it from hormones and behaviour. Whether a woman dreads taking testosterone or not, it won't change the act of taking it into anything more. A Gayden is still as much a woman as a female athlete practicing doping.

So yeah, he couldn't even make his story straight. His first two points are also bullshit and need not even be mentioned, but this one is just funny. A woman forced into what he described is not less of a woman, much like he is not any less of a man for fucking up his hormonal balance, behaving as a sexist stereotype or (possibly) getting a bunch of futile elective surgeries. After all, many times several women have given me the same piece of advice: Its really hard for a man to be truly misogynistic because nobody hates women more than other women. One of them even told me how the all comprehensive and supportive great women of her friends circle decided to start calling her a whore and a slut after being raped and how hard it was for her to have someone to speak with because she was terrified of men and women just scorned her constantly. I might not be the best on this matter, but it really gave me a lot of food for thought. The same way guys are competitive and straight up hostile with other guys, women probably do it the same way. Maybe a bit more passive-aggresively, but the intention and opportunity is there.

And on the lesbians thing, i cannot speak much since i only knew 2 and lost contact with both after a lot of drama. I will tell pretty honestly that you tend to feel for them when they are down and depressed, but after a while you realize it's mostly out of their own doing. One of them ended up trooning out and last i heard she spoke about being harassed and mocked constantly at work, home and social circles for being a TIF. The other changed gf oftenly, around 2 per year and it was always for some minor disagreement that both blew out of proportion when they started to argue over who was right. Maybe i'm lucky i don't know more.

Despite what a lot of different philosophies out there claim, humans as a species are naturally aggressive and competitive. That's one of the things that gave us an edge over... well, the rest of the natural world. You can't spread through the entire world without bulldozing the competition, and the meek only inherit the earth after the brave have conquered it.

As such, it's really no surprise that women get to be as aggressive (if not more so) than men when they don't feel physically threatened by someone stronger. It's just human nature to see a chance to become the top dog, and then fight for it.

It's not just marriage. As far as I can tell it's both sex (at least for gay men) and marriage if they were to overturn Lawrence v. Texas as well as Obergefell v. Hodges.

Considering monkeypox (and aids) has shown that gay men won't stop being sex fiends even at risk of disease, the T would be vastly overshadowed in an instant if sex and marriage for the gays were to be struck down. I'd even argue that some of the trans talking points could probably be weaponized against the LGB if someone was so inclined. Civil partnerships were that hill and it wasn't enough.
