The original objective of the winter war was the annexation of the entirety of Finland to the Soviet Union. It ended with the Russians beaten so thoroughly, losing so many men and so much equipment to a vastly inferior (on paper) force, that they decided to accept a Finnish peace treaty and pretend the tiny chunks of Karelia and Salla they managed to hold were the real objective all along.

Both the United States and the Russian Federation met the central limits of the New START Treaty by February 5, 2018, and have stayed at or below them ever since. Those limits are:

  • 700 deployed intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), deployed submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), and deployed heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments;
  • 1,550 nuclear warheads on deployed ICBMs, deployed SLBMs, and deployed heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments (each such heavy bomber is counted as one warhead toward this limit);
  • 800 deployed and non-deployed ICBM launchers, SLBM launchers, and heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments.
New START limits all Russian deployed intercontinental-range nuclear weapons, including every Russian nuclear warhead that is loaded onto an intercontinental-range ballistic missile that can reach the United States in approximately 30 minutes. It also limits the deployed Avangard and the under development Sarmat, the two most operationally available of the Russian Federation’s new long-range nuclear weapons that can reach the United States. Extending New START ensures we will have verifiable limits on the mainstay of Russian nuclear weapons that can reach the U.S. homeland for the next five years. As of the most recent data exchange on September 1, 2020, the Russian Federation declared 1,447 deployed strategic warheads. The Russian Federation has the capacity to deploy many more than 1,550 warheads on its modernized ICBMs and SLBMs, as well as heavy bombers, but is constrained from doing so by New START.

It must be physically painful to go through life being such an absolute retard. If you think that Russia is abiding by any treaty that they are a party to, you are, by definition, clinically retarded.

And considering that Russia was trying to out and out conquer Finland during the Winter War to "restore their historical territory", and didn't even remotely come close to meeting that objective, your position that the Finns lost is incorrect. I would say that the fact that Finland made some small territorial concessions and retained their sovereignty against a military force that was literally 50x larger in terms of materiel was a significant victory.

The Fins lost. It is a matter of record. You can spin the fuck out of it if you want but, the Fins lost. They lost twice. They had no reason to accept anything in 1944 ie, the Continuation war. They made the Fins leave the areas they wanted. They made the Fins disarm and fight the Germans the Fins had invited into their country. The Fins stayed completely neutral for almost 80 years because of the overwhelming fear they had of the Soviet Union.

Considering what the stakes were in WW2 and the sheer fact it wasn't absorbed into the Soviet union it can be seen as a strategic win despite losing land. People forget in WW2 the battle of the coral sea was a technical and tactical victory for the Japanese. But on the overall strategic scale the US kept supply lines open to Australia and were able to repair the Yorktown quicker then expected as the battle of midway would soon occur.

The finns in this situation are in a similar situation. They have lost some tactical and even strategic positions but in regards to that they ended up playing both sides in the cold war I would say they achieved an overall strategic win surviving WW2 mostly unscathed compared to countries like the UK, Poland, Hungary, Austria, france, Russia, and Ukraine/Belarus not to mention Italy, Spain and the Balkans.
Sweden, Finland and Norway+ Switzerland got off rather lightly during WW2. That in of itself os a geopolitical win.

Sorry for getting back so late, but while you are totally right that they were defeated both times, for how incredibly lopsided it was and how well they did, it would be like if a little scrawny nerd had a fistfight with Mike Tyson and got beat up, but knocked Tyson's teeth around and broke some bones. Nobody would be impressed by Tyson's glorious victory.
