This is too good not to share.
'I have peaked my woke brother.
Some background: I have an older brother in his mid 50s, C, who is a self described FDR Democrat. He’s always been the person I can passionately discuss politics with. Over the past few years he’s been towing the woke line on social media and in our convos so I’ve held back many of my thoughts. He is in a committed relationship with a woman, S, who has a 28 year old autistic daughter, K, that came out as enby trans a few months into the pandemic. That happened a few short months before I peaked.
During the past 2 years I’ve played the pronoun game and used K’s male name when I visit their home and felt uncomfortable doing that as K ticks all the boxes for ROGD. When K first came out my brother told me he didn’t buy it but he & S played along. With each subsequent visit I observed them enabling the situation and it’s effected the dynamic in their home and our friendship. He reached out to me to complain and I invited him over this week.
The conversation began with C explaining the issues with K. I stopped him early on and said that in my home, I will use correct sex pronouns and K’s real name, and that he didn’t have to play the game around me. He continued to use K’s chosen pronouns and name but didn’t give negative feedback. After a few minutes I told him I had something I’d been meaning to tell him for a while. I very bluntly said, “I am team TERF. I do not believe in gender ideology and I’ve been scared to tell you this because of the situation in your home.”
To my absolute, utter shock he told me he understood and started asking me why I felt that way.
I explained that K coming out sent me on a journey. I read Butler, queer theory, and many studies on trans identifying children and ended up peaking.
I explained how women’s language and spaces are being erased (at which point he brought up Will Thomas and told me he felt it was absolute bullshit for a man to be competing in women’s sports). I mentioned self ID and how men are being transferred into women’s prisons, resulting in rape and pregnancies. He was stunned.
So then he asked me, “How did we get here?” I told him we aren’t dealing with old school transsexuals anymore. I gave him a short history of how trans healthcare changed from watchful waiting to affirmation. I explained that most kids with GID grow up to be healthy LGBs if allowed to finish puberty and bluntly said, “We’re transing the gay away. This is conversion therapy.”
I moved on to ROGD and could see the lightbulb moment happening. I explained how many enbys are Cluster B narcs and began relating it to the situation in his home. He began connecting the dots, saying how K is using her enby ID to control the thoughts and actions of the adults in the home.
Then I went in with the kicker. A few weeks prior he’d made an offhand comment dismissing the possibility that kids are getting healthy body parts removed and I brought up how much that upset me. I told him about Lupron and that girls as young as 13 are having their healthy breasts amputated, making decisions about their bodies that are irreversible, turning them into lifelong medical patients before their brains are fully developed. I told him about that yeet the teets psycho marketing her services to kids on TikTok. The look on his face was shock and horror. I mentioned the intersection of queer theory, big Pharma, and the capturing of NGOs post Obergfell when they had to find a new grift.
Then he asked me why nobody is talking about this and I explained that the only people giving platforms to those of us with concerns are people like Tucker Carlson and Fox News. He’s not hearing about this because his news sources have blacked this out. I told him about the growing community of detransitioners. Then he told me I should be writing about this and I said nah and pulled out Helen’s & Abigail’s books. I offered to lend them but he declined and said he couldn’t have them at his house for obvious reasons. BUT he has a kindle and assured me he’d be downloading Trans and reading it ASAP.
The conversation then moved on to other topics.
This conversation has been brewing for 2 years. I feel such a sense of relief that I was able to be honest with the person I have relied upon the most for sane political takes. I am grateful that he heard me out and believed me. I know he’s going to read Trans and I hope to god it helps him change the situation in his home. I furthermore hope that he will peak his partner, who has catered to and enabled her narc daughter throughout the young lady’s life. I’m glad I didn’t give up on him and I feel like our relationship has been restored and reinvigorated. I can speak honestly to him now.
What I’d like anyone who reads this to take away from this story is: don’t give up on your woke friends. Some of them can be peaked. We will win this argument one conversation at a time.'
