They were recently used in Iraq by the Iraqis and ISIS had a grand old time popping them with ATGMs and TOWs.

IIRC the Abrams and Leopard came from some sort of joint tank program.

The end result Hanz and Uncle Sam went on their separate ways.

Though I am surprised the French don't market those LeClercs, but they are French so I am not surprised and the UAE must have bribed them hard.

The British apparently sold their Challenger tank to Oman, a country that no one cares about in the Middle East.
The ones we gave Iraq were mostly monkey models iirc. Plus most of the captures were because the Iraqis did what they do best, and abandoning their shit.

Man, it sure would suck to live under a regime that would incite racial hatred for its own political ends :hulk:

If they want soldiers with no upper body strength who'll cry and drop their rifles the first time they hear a bomb, they have the Reddit Legion.

Is this even in question? Current Abrams variants are like spaceships compared to anything in Russian inventory. American tankers are probably also a lot better trained, and you can be pretty confident they won't drive them while drunk or break down due to lack of maintenance.

Russia's advantage is they have about 12,000 tanks. Most of them obsolete garbage that probably doesn't work anymore, but Trotsky was right about quantity. If WW3 happens the main tank action will be about T-72 vatiants and Leopards.

If I remember it right, a T-90 is a T-72 with upgraded armor chasis and a T-80 turret or something of that nature. Their last independent design is from the Soviet era and we haven't seem the Armata in action even though Uncle Sam dropped the M48 and M60 Pattons for the M1 Abrams when they fought the first and second gulf wars against 1960s era Soviet tanks and the Asad Babil.

It's crazy that the Canadian parliament after two years of not being able to fully meet because covid is too dangerous, not being able to meet during the trucker thing because Trudeau faked covid to chill in a hidden cabin and destroy Canadian rights over zoom, etc... They managed to get the boys all back in town during a 17 day recess of parliament so that they can have a leader of a foreign state deliver a speech so they can clap like seals and then all fuck off again. Just incredible. Joke country.
Hey, asshole, I'm not going to let you slander Canada like this. Can you blame us? There's a chance someone might pony up the air transports to take our boys overseas again. It's like once every 20 years we get to ride along with big bro America so course we're gonna be excited. Everyone's really looking forward to it, especially our army since it means they might get some new (slightly used) gear.

That's very interesting, because nobody in Europe uses Abrams tanks. They're only used by Egypt, the Saudis, Australia, Kuwait and the US. European countries use either German Leopard 2s, modernized T-72 variants, or a combination of both. And those fat lads on the trains are 100% Abrams tanks.

Why does this feel like something big is about to kick off?
The US does not want to be ignored when it comes time to settle this mess and that means it needs pieces on the board. Russia ostensibly started this war to get rid of Ukraine Neo Nazis and also to push NATO away from Russias borders.

The US can't really do anything about the first issue, but it can do something about the second, and that is to park Abrams tanks on the Russian border so the crews can play patty cake with the Russian border guards. Hard for Putin to say he's achieved all his objectives when before the war the idea of American armored battalions in the Baltics and Poland went from theoretical to real. Even during the cold war the American army was never within shooting distance of the Russian flag. I think that is about to change.

And if Putin doesn't like that well tough tits. He's gonna have to give America something to convince them to maybe not park an armored spearhead 10 minutes from Russia.

Being America's hat is suffering.

Guys, I played this through to the end and here are the spoilers:

Elon Musk takes Kadyrov up on his offer. He travels to Grozny to live and train with Chechen special forces. After six months of weapons training and illegal Chinese steroids Musk defeats Putin in single combat. Natalia Poklonskaya is elected president and immediately withdraws the Russian military from Ukraine.

Zelensky flees to the United States, where he becomes a fixture on news programs and late night television. Russian troops occupy Ukraine indefinitely. The civilian population is ravaged for years by insurgent bombings and military oppression. Ukraine is merely the first of the former socialist republics to be retaken and formed into the NUSSR.

People on social media virtue signal so hard that Putin, realizing that their politicians will be forced to act against Russia to appease their constituents, launches a premptive nuclear strike against the United States and several key NATO allies. After the resulting worldwide conflagration dies down China emerges as the undisputed hegemonic power while much of the western world is reduced to a state best described as slavpunk.

>Natalia Poklonskaya

>In February 2017, she led a campaign to block the release of the film Matilda for its allegedly blasphemous portrayal of the affair between Tsar Nicholas II (who has been canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church) and the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya.[92] In April, she released a 39-page report attempting to denounce the film and alleging, among other claims, that the historically evidenced and well-documented affair could not have happened as Kshesinskaya was, in the opinion of the report's authors, 'too ugly to have attracted the attention of the Tsar'.[93] On 30 November 2017, Poklonskaya returned an order obtained from the claimant to the headship of the Imperial Family of Russia, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, because the Grand Duchess had refused to support her efforts on outlawing the film, calling Poklonskaya's arguments "without any factual basis, but quite amusing".[94]

Poklonskaya is crazier than Putin, she's genuinely in love with Nicholas II and is so jealous of a ballerina born 150 years ago she tried to get a movie banned despite the head of the Romanov family openly mocking her for it.

During the Cold War the US Army was indeed within shooting distance of the Soviet flag, in Berlin. We had the Berlin Brigade, with tanks. Remember seeing US tanks facing off against Soviet tanks in the Checkpoint Charlie area. British and French also had brigade-sized units there. You also had US forces manning the line in West Germany against the East Germans and Soviet forces. But you would be correct in saying US forces were never within shooting distance of the USSR itself.

Pretty much. Armata looks sweet on paper but it's a meme tank - if they were ever going to be able to afford them in significant quantities and with the embarrassing mechanical bugs worked out they'd have had done it years ago.

Russian tanks are OK, they're definitely tank shaped and can ruin somebody's day, and Russia can afford them. But the sensors on a modern M1 or Leopard are way better than anything Russia could afford or develop by itself. Being able to detect and fire at the enemy before he gets the same idea about you wins a tank encounter.

Not that WW3 would be about tank battles anyway, Russian armor will spend more time worrying about Javelins, Brimstones, Apaches and drones if not actual thermonuclear warfare which would make the idea of "winning" redundant.

If the south was invaded, the KKK and black dudes would be fighting side by side in an instant. That is how these things work.
Gonna press a serious doubt on that one Chief.

I think this may have been true if the US military had not fucked itself in Afghanistan and them fucked its soldiers with a stupid vax mandate. We have an all volunteer military and most of it is not infantry/artillery/armored cavalry. It would be stupid to get into any sort of confrontation with Russia. Then again we have stupid not only running the military but the country too, so who knows. I'm scouting fallout shelters myself.

They were also facing very antiquated weaponry, and past the initial blitzkrieg were essentially worthless.
They were used extensively during the entirety of the war and were quite valuable. The myth of the tank as useless in urban warfare died in Iraq for those who aren't ignorant retards.

Technically this was not Russia, or even the USSR. It was the East German border. The US moving tanks into Eastern Europe is a huge escalation.

As long as a tank has to take a predictable path it is very vulnerable. That's one of the reasons you just didn't see many being used in Afghanistan.
