Have You Ever Lived In A Haunted House?

The basement of an old house I lived in that was built in like the 30's used to be really creepy. Whenever you were down there, it always felt like there was something there just out of the corner of your eye. I never seen anything but multiple people said they'd see this guy down there in a black coat. At one point the basement was 'renovated' into a few grow rooms. The people doing it swear they seen a guy in a black coat walking through the walls they'd built following the original layout of the basement.

There's rumours that a person who lived in the house decades ago had been a pedophile and was responsible for a couple missing kids. One of the windows actually had helped me scratched on sold paint that was on it, but that could have just been a joke from someone at one point in time or another.

House is gone now though, it's been torn down and replaced by townhouses.

True Ghost Story. When I was a small child, I remember waking up and hearing a strange noise. It wasn't chains rattling or anything like that, it was more of that squeeky and crunchy noise your bed makes like when you roll over. I kept hearing this noise and it was kind of rhythmic like footsteps or something. There was also moaning and it sounded like someone was in pain, but I also heard a voice saying 'yes'. I was so scared.

Also when I was a teenager I would sometimes wake up and hear strange things. I would hear what sounded like something opening my older brother's bedroom door. It was very slow and I could tell the ghost or monster was trying to be quiet.

Then I would hear tip-toe footsteps going down the hallway. Some people say that ghosts float. Well I know they don't because I heard the footsteps!

Lucky for me, every time the ghost kept going down the hallway and didn't stop and open my door. The footsteps kept going and went down the hall and it sounded like it opened the door to the backyard very slowly.

Then it would be completely silent for about 5 minutes approximately. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

I would hear the back door creak open and the ghastly footsteps would return. There would now be a strange smell, kind of like marijuana smoke but spookier. The footsteps would tip-toe down the hall, past my room, and straight to my brother's room. I would hear the door slowly inch open. Then the ghost was gone.

This happened all the time.

What?

Old bro was just sneaking in/out.

I lived in a house that was a speakeasy and gambling den for the mob back buring prohibition. When we were fixing it up we found a couple gambling tokens with the houses address on them. There was one room in the basement with a dirt floor but we never had the balls to dig it up. Saw and heard some wild shit there.

One night we were playing kings (a card game) and drinking shitty vodka with some Lithuanians that were staying with us for awhile, it's like 2 in the morning and we hear kids playing and laughing outside. Normally that would be weird but it was in the hood so whatever. Well what makes the hair on my neck stand up to this day is the sounds of the kids from outside started to move, like the source of the sound moved from the street to coming out of a bathroom that had a shower curtain for a door that was directly behind the table we were all seated around and as the sound is coming from this windowless bathroom it just stops flat like hitting mute in the middle of a movie. Saw some weird shit and heard other weird shit but this was the most fucked thing I've ever dealt with in my life.

Not haunted but I saw a ghost in my childhood home.

It was of our cat. Went to the bathroom late at night, and saw her sitting on the bathmat. She'd run away weeks ago, so was surprised. Went to pat her but she melted into the pattern of the mat.

Found her body two days later under the house. Was super weird

I saw a shadow cat in the hallway a few months ago at night. Our cat was asleep on a dining room chair downstairs. He's black. But so heavy on his feet and meows when he sees people. So I think it might have been my grandmother's cat walking around in the afterlife. This cat seemed more shadow then substance now that I think about it.

But when I was about 11 we moved to a house diagonally across the street from our old one. I didn't know anyone on that street so I didn't know that a teen girl had committed suicide in there just a few months before. Her parents tried to break up her relationship with her boyfriend. So they made a suicide pact and they both went through with it. She died in the house and he died in another neighborhood.

My sister, who was four years younger than me, said that the house was haunted. Not just by the girl but by an old man who kept coming out of the basement. She said he was a farmer and he wanted his equipment back. Her friend's parents were alcoholics so she came to live with us for awhile. She was also afraid and claimed all kinds of things were happening in there.

I didn't think a lot of it until I had a terrifying experience where I felt some guy stab me in the back when I was in bed. I just laid there feeling blood pouring out and I felt like I died. When the feeling finally passed I was fine. And I don't think it was sleep paralysis. I know what that feels like.

Gotta wonder if that farmer was stabbed and robbed and that's what I was experiencing. I swear I saw him and his horse in the back yard one morning. I found a chair in a big hole in the basement wall that was blocked off by boards. It was a really old wooden chair. The rowhomes on that side of the block were about 100 years old at the time. So Lord known when that hole was made and why a chair was put in there. It could have been kids playing. I hope it was nothing more than that. There were old prison clothes in the coal chamber. Old timey striped pajamas that didn't look like a Halloween costume.

Not much development has taken place around here in the past century. A lot of old houses have coal chambers and remnants of gaslight systems. We've got several old boarding houses that look like something out of a horror movie. They're mostly apartments now. But I often wonder what kinds of weird things went on in them.

We had three big dogs. A German shepherd, a rottweiler and a shepherd/rottweiler mix (no relation). They all refused to go into the basement and would panic if you tried to make them go down. But when we moved again to a house where you had to go down stairs to the above ground basement to get into the yard they had no problem going right on down.

I used to see a shadow person in my grandmother's house. She moved out into a retirement home and I basically lived in it until I was able to sell it. Anyway, at night I usually stayed up and watched TV because I'm a bit of a night owl. Every now and then I would catch this fucker looking at me from over the foot of my bed. I would jump up, it would look like it was scared, and then dart down under the bed. Whenever I would check to see if someone was there... Nothing. I checked under the bed, everything. Doors would creak open by themselves every now and again, but that was about it. I asked my grandmother about it and she told me the basement used to be a bar back in the day, and some dude shot himself down there. Grandma said she always called him Bob, and besides being a pervert apparently, he wasn't much of a problem. I sold the house eventually and I've always wondered if I was crazy or if there was something actually going on there.

My dog is like this at my current house. I don't know what his deal is.

I believe I’ve lived in haunted houses, especially the last place (over 100 yr old) but I don’t experience much activity because I hang a cross I was given for my first communion and it gives a protective vibe. I’ve placed it in my roommate’s bedroom one time because she kept complaining about weird shit happening in the house and even if she wasn’t a believer, it stopped the weird shit.
I also have a cat so I believe she’s scaring the ghost away.

I saw a kid sitting beside me on one of the old reflective TVs when I was 8. I've also had people say they've heard a kids voice talking to them when they've been over saying "Hello", "Good Morning" and such.

I've worked nights in healthcare and had a strong gust of wind appear out of nowhere inside a sealed room for a few minutes followed by knocking. Also, door sensors have weird glitches occasionally, and we've even checked for intruders because someone heard the toilet flush and water running in an area that no one else should be in.

I don't believe in ghosts, but, when I was in college, I lived in a house that had dirt cheap rent. found out why, a guy killed his wife and mother. once in a while, I would get random people saying "...you know that place is haunted.... right?". I lived there for a few years. I have never seen a ghost in that place. lol

Yes. A house my family rented once. You would see a shadow figure either at the top of the stairs or sometimes sitting on the sofa in the living room. You could hear footsteps walking around upstairs and at night, I could hear footsteps approaching my bed, but there was never anyone in there though you would feel a chill (whether actual cold air or just a fear reaction, I can't say). My dog also refused to go into my room.

It was a creepy house and I wouldn't spend another night there. I honestly, based on some of the things that happened during that period in my life, believe that there was some kind of evil presence there. That sounds retarded, I know, but I believe it.

When I moved to the Hamptons on Long Island like 20 years ago, my wife and I lived in the "Topping House" that had been the original Southampton Hospital.

That was my porch right there in that picture.

The place was creepy as all fuck. The living room was the original operating room, and there were pipes coming of the ceiling that were for the original gas-fed OR lamps. The was an "ice room" in the creepy ass basement that was the morgue. The master bedroom bathroom had big sinks that were "scrub sinks", and the door of the room sealed with a rubber gasket because it had been a tuberculosis isolation ward.

The house was old as shit and it creaked and groaned and the steam radiators made all sorts of creepy thumps and gurgling and hissing noises.

Hundreds of people had died in the house, like for real. There were records of all the people who had died in the Topping House that were kept at the new Southampton Hospital that was right across the street, and I looked at them, and saw the actual names dates, and causes of death, and lots of them were kids who had died of plagues and horrible turn-of-the-century poxes and shitting diseases.

There were people in the neighborhood who wouldn't step foot in the house because they swore it was haunted, and riddled with ghosties and ghoulies.

I lived there for two years, and never saw any ghosts, because I'm not a childish dimwit.

There are no haunted houses, but there are lots of haunted heads.
