Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

McCarthy has said they will remove Schiff, Swallowswell, and Omar from their committee positions in retaliation for what they did to MTG and Gosar, but he lies by omission when he says just their current committees. MTG et al were removed from every committee, McCarthy just wants to kick the most obvious dems from their positions in one committee and hope that ends any prodding by the MAGA people.

I'm hopeful that Trump right now, really seeing RINOs on the run, is using McCarthy just to turn on him or demand actual eye for an eye shit or he'll just say "vote Gaetz/Gohmert for Speaker instead." Get rid of the obvious RINOs, then put the screws to the mushy ones to just be window dressing. It's what the dems have done forever, look at all those moderate dems who went along with impeachments.

Did you know that speaker of the house doesn't actually have to be in the house?

Trump needs to put someone that isn't actually a house rep in, Bring Kanye, or Trump Jr in to do the job, not because I think this is a GOOD idea..but because it would be fucking god damn hilarious to see the RINOs and the Libs fucking go ballistic.

And really it's a pointless gesture. They'll be put back on the committees next time the dems gain a majority, perhaps even earlier.
GOP needs to be policy first, and to make those policies be more than just "low taxes, fund the military, we love our cops". Democrats wanted to move into Endgame with the voting "rights" bill, GOP needs to have the same mindset.

I mostly agree, but would support them being stripped of their committee positions as those committees are often where policies are made.

Personally, I'd see all the progs and anyone on the January 6th committee stripped of their committee positions. Same for any of the bad actors in the Senate committee. And instead, fully recommend that the moderates be their replacement. The moderate Dems far more closely match the general populace and thus having them on would provide a key counter to the right overextending while providing very little in the way of risk or real cost.
