The problem is that ultimately these troons cannot have what they want - which is the remaking of their own objective physical condition - and after failing that they seek to remake society's perceptions of the troon in question. For the longest time the best they could do was crossdressing in private settings, but after attaching themselves to the drive to normalize homosexuality they see no reason to limit themselves to what they had before. Now nothing less than a complete eradication of objective gender norms and roles will do. They don't want women's sports or women's bathrooms, they want a singular space where they and only they are applauded and validated.
I'm not sure that I agree with the premise that trans-identified people even
want to actually change their physical bodies. Only about 5% of trans-identified males get SRS, and the numbers are far lower for trans-identified females. iirc even the number of trans-identified people who get cosmetic surgeries ("top surgery," ffs, etc.) is quite low. The majority don't even try to pass. They don't want to
be the opposite sex, they want the control and, often, sexual excitement that - for them - comes with forcing others to treat them as the opposite sex and invading opposite sex spaces.
I also don't think the trans movement can be blamed on the gay rights movement. Trans activism steals from every minority rights movement - they've stolen slogans and activist narratives from the civil rights movement, the gay rights movement, BLM, Stop Asian Hate, every movement you could possibly imagine. I think the trans movement could more accurately be pegged to be riding the coattails of the
sex positive movement than the gay rights movement - the sex positive movement is all about normalizing fetishes, public exposure of sex and sexuality, extreme pornography, etc. All things that the trans movement is based in and relies on. Even if gay rights had never been even remotely successful - and I'd like to remind you that gay people still do not have equal rights in virtually any part of the world today, the movement is not over - the trans movement very likely still would have happened so long as the liberal feminist-led sex positive movement still arose. That's ymmv though.
The trans movement also has zero interest in eradicating gender norms and roles - they
rely on those gender norms and roles and
strictly enforce them. They can't claim an uproar over not being recognized as a woman while wearing a dress if you normalize men wearing dresses - and I'm not pulling that as a random example, there was a whole uproar a while back because some black male celebrity wore a skirt and trans activists proclaimed that he was "stepping on trans territory" and needed to stop being gender non-conforming because if he were gender non-conforming and male, it would make it harder for them to be "recognized" as identifying as women based on their conformity to opposite sex-assigned gender stereotypes.
They also
emphatically do want "women's spaces" and "women's sports" to exist, because being "validated" as women is what gets them off. Even if you created an entire space dedicated to the worship of trans-identified males, it wouldn't be good enough, because forcing everyone to include them as "women" is part of the fetish.
...sorry. I didn't mean to come at this so hard. Please know I'm just shooting the shit here and not trying to attack you or say you're necessarily wrong, etc. This is how I get away with not paying attention to the shit movie I've got on lol.
