Honestly, I was only guessing on the OCD thing based on him saying he escalated to checking the sign on the door a million times before entering because he wanted to be sure which room he was entering. That struck me as not dissimilar to the stereotype of someone checking their door ten times before bed to make sure it was locked and still not being sure.

Compulsions and intrusive thoughts are a bitch, man. You can know what you're doing is irrational and still feel the need to do it. But the answer isn't affirming the compulsions.
