Quite sure that when it states that 'sex is protected in law', they don't mean legal sex, but actual, observed sex. If all it took for women to gain voting and property rights was to lobby the government and get their legal sex changed to 'male', then they would have done it.

In terms of gender self ID law being snuck in, that is exactly how it happened in Canada. Back in 2017, Bill C-16 went virtually unknown to the Canadian public. Jordan Peterson was the only one to bring it up. He was heavily criticized for it, including from a man with a trooned out teenage son, but he was right. Nobody in Canada knew what it was, what it did, and even the so-called Conservatives hadn't a clue what was in it. But it passed.

They are also doing it in Spain, except the TERFs there are being more vocal. Canada didn't get an opportunity to fight back, and most supported trans rights to the tune of 80%. Only now are people learning about kids being given puberty blockers and the 'wait and see' method effectively being made illegal in several provinces (Bill 77 is one). Males in women's prisons is also entering normiespace and people are talking about it more.

Nah. The person I was responding to had a pretty good comment on gay acceptance and history. I merely added to it. I'll keep talking about Hirschfeld and the slippery slope.
