I'm saying what the average Brazilian would have on their minds 10 years ago. Ever heard of prejudice? Creating an image of someone before meeting them? The media would televise about males kidnapping little boys in small towns all the time, yes there were little girls too but I can say for sure it was more common with gay people.

As another Brazilian I have never heard anything like that, sure we can talk about individual odd occurrences but then I can also point out if you Google "pai estupra filha lésbica" (father rapes lesbian daughter) you get almost one results per year of news of different Brazilian men raping their (usually adolescent) daughter to "turn them into woman" or "show that sex with men is better", it's really fringe instances becoming infamous (the reporting on these pedophile gays is proving harder to find, but I'm always up to be proven wrong, maybe it wasn't in my area so it never got to me).

Not to say the gays were considered angels, but the rumors I'm familiar with are more "the areas they frequent are dangerous cause there's a bunch of used condoms lying around" and less of child abduction.

As to why there's such a polarization on gay stuff in Brazil, we are a very heterogenous group. Plus one of the most violent countries in general, when you leave your home you kinda have to expect you can get stabbed or shot regardless
