My thing is I'm just avoiding major carbs (pasta, bread, rice, sugar, etc).

I've been doing this since November of last year, and it's one of the best things I've ever done.

I'm going on the modified Atkin's diet soon (a mix of ketogentic and the Atkin's diet), and even I think this is massively dumb.

Look up all sides before deciding on something that looks skeptical.

I have. The most convincing arguments I hear are based off of arguments from authority and convention, rather than hard data. I'm not opposed to the idea of this going wrong, but I've yet to be convinced.

@kinglordsupreme19, you need some measure of carbs for your kidneys to function properly, what you're trying to do is essentially a keto diet, so consult r/keto for meal plans and such, because not only are you lacking nutrients and other necessary elements in your diet (fiber is definitely one of them, you will soon have constipation problems), you are also going to get deathly bored of eating a small selection of items and that isn't a good idea.

I've not been convinced that dietary fibre is necessary, nor that the "carbs are necessary for your kidneys" argument stacks up for someone who hasn't got a preexisting condition. As for boredom, I tend not to eat socially or for enjoyment - I once lived off of nothing but huel for 3 months.

My dude, when people say zero carbs in keto..etc., they mean zero Net Carbs (total carbs - grams fiber). Keep in mind we're talking about 15-35 gms daily, this is really not a lot and you can easily get it by adding veggies. You also need minerals (broth is great for this), vitamins..etc

Also, I don't want to go into disgusting details, but fiber is needed for the digestive system to actually expel waste, without it, you will spend hours in the bathroom without anything happening.

Boredom is subjective, I personally get bored of same-y food, but you do you as long as you maintain a proper diet.

Good luck.

I shit nuclear warheads, I should be fine :sighduck:

As said, an elimination diet is a good way to remove potential stressors on your digestive system. Try it for a couple of weeks if you feel it's for you, and see what net effect it has.

I'll chime in, and be brief since, people love to debate and throw studies around, but let me say, we eat far too many carbs on avg. Carbs aren't the problem it's life style.

You said you power lift, I suggest trying everything and seeing what your body responds to best. I've been into lifting for 15 years and tried many things, and retry as I get older. Diff things match different people as well as age hits us.

If it works for you, and works well do it to it. I fucking love bread am in my 30s and have a 6 pack... but like I suggest before going clear of anything moderation is key.

It's very possible to live well and healthy off piles of meat, but I rather throw good veg in as well. I felt it works better for me, and I love fruits and dark leafy greens.

I'm going back to the carnivore based diet; I had a bit of success with my variation of it. The clarity, fullness, energy, and better body odor is worth it. I do season with spices and I try to make everything 90% meat (including organ meats and fish) with 10% gut-friendly vegetables/fruits. No grains.

Liver is good. Liverwurst is the best, the good one has so much vitamines that it gets grey after getting in contact with air.

My one problem with Carnivore diets. And a lot of other extreme diets. Is it seems healthy, but most people who are trying it are also probably just ditching a lot of really bad processed and junk foods. Can't have a burger if you only eat meat after all.

My personal short looks into optimal diets seem to return one thing. no junk/processed foods High veg, low red meat, moderate fish meat diets seem to be very very good, the sort of diets you find in rural japan areas and stuff like that. Is there any studies of these people making the switch to all meat diets and seeing any improvements?

Nothing wrong with Keto aside from being unsustainable if everybody did it. Its one of those dietary fads that could only exist in a land of plenty.
The entire benefit of Keto is the cutting out of processed garbage. Nobody who does Keto actually reaches Ketosis.

I think the diet is successful because of the mystical/faux-science behind it. It pushes people to actually do it.
