I think it could just be as simple as Chris sees a game he has some fondness for on sale and just can't help himself. Looking on Google you can get Sonic Forces on Switch for $20. That would put it into many people's impulse buy range.

And you can chide Chris for buying frivolous luxuries but lots of non autistics do that.
