This past May, Pope Francis held a meeting with several YouTube personalities from around the world to discuss how the internet brings people together and how it can be used as a force for good in young peoples' lives.

One of the YouTubers he met with was Matthew "MatPat" Patrick, creator of "Game Theory" and 30-year old FNAF fanatic. Following the tradition of giving the Pope a gift that holds some importance (real or symbolic) to the giver, Matthew decided to give the Pope Undertale, a $10 game that Pope Francis has no way of using.
Matthew then went on to make a long video saying how giving the Pope was a serious symbolic gesture and how it was necessary because of events like the shooting at Pulse in Orlando several weeks ago.

(For those confused about the "SANS IS NESS!" thing, MatPat made a video saying Undertale takes place in the same world as the Mother/Earthbound series. Everyone agreed it was retarded and that Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, is just a huge Mother fanboy who took a great deal of inspiration from the game.)
There has been a bit of an uproar since, with some people standing by Matt's decision as important for gaming culture and others realizing he gave the Pope Undertale.
Any Catholics here have an opinion on this? I'm not Catholic myself but Matt's attitude and "gift" seem like a slap in the face not only to Pope Francis himself but to all the people who dream of having an audience with the Pope.
