downs as well as other genetic retardation syndromes should pretty much be a requirement to screen for and abort, now granted there are downs people and similar who are relatively mildly challenged, they are functional and some are quite smart and capable, talented yes. BUT , more often than not, they are minimally functional at best, its far too biog of a gamble to risk since you dont know how severe they will or will not be until after a few years at least. if this is done, then the resources can be better used on those few that were not able to be pre screened and ended up being born, as well as helping those folks who ended up disabled by accident , illness/ unforeseen circumstances. help those people live best life possible, don't knowingly bring a damn water-head potato into the world, knowing there's a real good chance they will hinder and burden the family, as well as the services sector and larger communities. it is selfish, pure and simple to keep them, and honestly i wish they could be euthanized shortly after birth or in early life if they discover the kid is severely autistic or similar lifelong condition of, yes, suffering, these kids, suffer especially in adulthood. they live in a world they cannot really participate in or contribute in any real way in.

There's even been a lot of propaganda lately that people with downs are indistinguishable from the average person, which literally anyone can see it total bullshit

If only it were that easy... Unfortunately, though, once the child is born, euthanizing it is an act of murder, even if the act of euthanizing it would probably be the best thing for it. I honestly feel for the parents who end up having fucked-up kids, not knowing that they'd end up that way until after they're born. There is literally nothing they can do other than hope to Christ they succumb to whatever their condition is.

But for the parents who know that their kid is going to turn out fucked-up, having that child is an idiotic, selfish decision. And forcing said fucked-up child to live a shit life really does border on torture.

But hey, all life is precious, right? I'm sure if we repeat that mantra over and over again, it'll definitely make the lives of children afflicted with terrible physical or mental disabilities less shitty. /sneed

Edit: @Ruin I often hear that that's the case, although currently the oldest kid with microcephaly is 15 and the youngest one is 10. The fact that they've made it this long is, well... kind of unfortunate, really. Like I don't want to sound like I'm honestly rooting for these kids to die, but... I guess I kind of am.

Let's hope that Wikipedia is right and they can be free from such godawful lives.

actually many microcephalics live full life spans, but i hope in the case of these spesific ones one youtube with significant health issues, seizures etc. i hope they do pass on soon, they are suffering,they live miserable lives, but yeah, many micros can live a full life span, since not all of them have severe health issues, but regardless, its still not a good existence, they usually need lifelong care,though i have known a few who were highly functional as in, could talk, read and write, function, just had microcephalic head and were slow to learn, delayed. but most of them cannot and they are a huge drain on family and on society.

This mom was fighting to get her son more nursing care and put up videos to show how much help he needs and how little support he got for a long time. I saw that guy with his mom and a nurse/aide at a Taco Bell once a couple years ago when I lived in that area. He's a sweetheart but his mom is scary protective. They finally got him the 2:1 care this year and I'm glad because he is medically fragile and needs constant supervision. He has epilepsy on top of his autism.

I hate that his mom filmed him in diapers or naked in the tub but everything else isn't so bad because I think the videos helped her get the in home support after a long legal battle.

I hope she takes the videos down now that her son has more help but I don;t think she will.

yeah she isa nut job, she uses him, she loves being that '' look how wonderful i am, she loves that feedbackshe gets, that, oh you are sucha wonderful mother,'' crap, she loves the attention it gets her, and she loves showcasing how low functioning and well... useless his shitty life is to everyone to say, '''no one has a kid as severe as i we do ''' , and she really loves that attention and sympathy plus praises he gets,she is disgusting pure and simple. i feel for jamie to a point as he has her for a mother,plus he is an abuse survivor, not only by mom, but also paid caregivers, but mummy dearest is also guilty of abusing him, this exploiting, and also years ago she had a device strapped to him to shock him painfully, instead of doing what she does now which is gently calming and soothing, that is cool shes made improvements and changes , but she is still very rude and condescending, she still exploits him and disrespects him by showcasing his most intimate and personal moments to total strangers, under the guise of ''awareness'' its all bullshit, and at this poor saps expense, i wish he could pass on so he wouldnt have to suffer anymore. its just a terrible situation for everyone.

This right here. I'm a big advocate for euthanasia in cases like this. I can't even begin to imagine the torture of being in a mental prison (or physical for that matter as in the case of the severely handicapped) all day, every day, your whole miserable life.

this breaks what's left of my black heart. a parent is suppose to be the first and final defense of their child but they would rather treat them as things for material gains and social validation.

this cant be good for a Childs mental health and self-esteem either.
