What is your opinion oy Pewdiepie? I think he is fucking annoying in all of his videos. It's just stupid babble. I know that can be funny if its well done but this guy is just obnoxious.
His videos are shit, but the guy himself is pretty chill and friendly apparently. Envy him a bit, though, because he basically got a shitload of money by being an unfunny, shouting idiot.

I see him the same was as Fred really; he was in the right place at the right time doing the right thing, if he'd started a few years earlier or a few years later he wouldn't have met the same insane success.
That's whats so amazing about internet 'celebrities', whether they wanna admit it or not their success really is a case of luck a lot of the time. Sure some of them work their asses off and are genuinely talented or funny but if they're not doing something that's gonna get attention and promotion they're not gonna get anywhere. I think that's why a lot of the current youtube stars try to start side projects and ideas earlier now and why the washouts are struggling so hard, the current lot know the bubble can pop at any moment and they need to get their side shit rolling while they still have a large enough fanbase to do it. The washouts started to late and look like money grubbing, desperate idiots for it.

You could say the same about guys like PewDiePie. His videos are him screaming like an idiot and making retarded faces mainly. Seems like a nice enough guy, though, and apparently has donated a lot to charity. Still can't imagine watching his shit for more than a minute.

I worry about Game Grumps. Susie's antics could burn them down the line. The show is getting increasingly businesslike, and that doesn't mesh well with all the goose drama.

But yeah, RLM raised the bar of what a youtube video could be. A lot of people realized an autistic retard yelling into a shitty webcam about children's media isn't nearly as funny or engaging as an actual movie review with actual jokes.

I had this friend who was like celebrity on YouTube, he was well know for his video vlogs, such as his weekly rituals to his hiking trips. He enjoys doing the videos but sadly, he left YouTube because of the trolling got nasty, they were stealing his videos, post nasty comments and even create parody accounts. He gotten so 'tramatised', he changed account on dA and doesn't want to come back as his old username.

It is very sad really, not just because he lost an outlet. His attitude now, he is getting obnoxious and pushy towards me and my friends because he thinks no one sees his videos on Facebook anymore (he doesn't understand not everybody wants to look at his videos and it isn't really a video publishing webste) and he thinks most of my friends hate him or ignore him by not adding his characters on group pictures. He often bitches about his how is treated. He also makes excuses saying he cannot draw because he lack motivation or is too busy with his video converting to DVDs, he compared it to my university work. What gets me is, he doesn't always bother to do something back if we give him something, for example, gift art on birthdays, he was doing a gift art for friend but never finished it, so by the time it was his birthday, she never bothered to him a gift art, guess what he did, cry himself to sleep. Another thing was, he was insisting the friend to redraw the Livestream requests after her computer crashed. As for being busy, I used to be needy like him and 'harassed' my friends to talk to me as I was isolated back then, that annoyed them and often been told 'I'm busy... I have a life too', especially by him, but years later, he bugs me if I don't always reply to him

TL DR When he had YouTube, he was pleasant, paitient and socialble but since last year, he gotten obnoxious. Yet he mentioned he was unmotivated in 2008 but never seemed to have these issues, maybe he did but I didn't know him, however, I think I remember him mentioning he kept bugging his friends to see his videos.

After watching a few videos by RLM for the first time, it's dawned on me how wide the gap in quality between the critics of old and these guys is. Even the older videos by Nostalgia Critic and all those other guys are woefully lacking in retrospective. All they ever really did was comment on the stuff they watched and even then it was never funny or insightful. The guys at RLM have energy and enthusiasm and knowledge. They thoroughly analyse stuff while also saying meaningful things about the subject of their reviews.

To me, RLM is kind of like the Neo-Assyrian Empire. They're both entities that didn't so much innovate as they did make significant improvements to preexisting fields. The Assyrians used iron weaponry instead of bronze and RLM brought actual talent to the table.

Última edición:
I haven't watched any RLM videos, but I might just be interested.

Anybody like Kyle Kallgren/Oancitizen? I feel like he was the only decent/good reviewer of TGWTG, and he left that group anyway. He started becoming REALLY good around the time of his Melancholia review, because he's, you know, actually analytical. And he knows what he's talking about.

I think it isn't as much Suzy's mistakes (Which I really hope she learns from, I think she will) as it was the typical vitriol the fanbase has for her and her stuff. She got really defensive over that, but I feel like it was understandable.
Arin also mentioned in a Reddit post before the incident that he was very aware of how businesslike GG was becoming, and it was stressing him out, a lot. He even went as far as to say it gave him a lot of negative feelings that lasted for weeks, and cited that as the reason as to why he stopped animating. I don't really know if everything is in a better place now, as that post was around December, but I hope so. I think they all needed this vacation.

Arin *seems* like he's lightening up now and starting to have some fun again, either that or he's just a *really* good actor and hiding his negative feelings extremely well.

AVGN - As most of you know, he finally released his movie which which was stuck in development hell for a long while. It's mediocre, but if you are or were a fan, you might want to torrent it. He does James & Mike Mondays, a gaming show where you get to watch James, his annoying sidekick, and a guest play games. It's not to interesting, but it spiked up in popularity a bit when JonTron went on the show a few times.

Mike Matei has his standalone videos, which are usually crappy. As for the AVGN reviews themselves, they're okay. They come out very infrequently, and he mostly jumps on the bandwagon of a hated game at the time (Big Rigs, Desert Bus). He's doing, okay, but he has gotten into a few scandals that ruined his image a little. I think he's okay, I hate Mike though.
What scandals are you talking about here? I hadn't heard about anything bad circling around him before.

A few come to mind:

After eight years of still doing the "angry reviewer" shtick, he still hasn't improved. He even manages to fuck up even the most basic or easily Googled stuff. I've been following his antics on the irategamersucks blog for a few years now, as he's been one of my favorite lolcows for a while. I've even considered making a thread about him, but we already have a general angry reviewer thread.

Here's a quick bullet list:
  • He still thinks what he does is still popular and relevant. He hasn't noticed that this format is not only played out, but most of the people who were around when he started have long since moved on to other things.
  • He still has a raging hateboner against James Rolfe. When Rolfe announced that he was selling his stuff on DVD, Bores jump on the bandwagon with his own, complete with unedited copyright violations. When Rolfe announced "Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures", Bores had to jump on the bandwagon and announce his own game (which I'll come back to).
  • He's been caught posting as his own mother to defend his honor. Let that sink in. He feels that he needs mommy to defend him on the internet, but he takes the more pathetic route by posing as her. Even though he's been caught, he still thinks he's fooling everyone.
  • He sank his life savings trying to get his failed ghost hunting show in syndication. He even had a premier for it, which got a turnout of about a dozen people.
  • Speaking of ghost hunting, according to a local paper from his area, that's his full-time job: teaching people how to hunt ghosts.
  • Rounding out the autism checklist, he recently gained an obsession with both Skylanders and Amiibo.
  • He paid an indie company to make his game. After three years of nothing. When he finally decided to check in on his investment, they took an existing game, slapped a vaguely Irate Gamer coat of paint on it, and sent it his way. After a couple of months without any sales, it was pulled from the App Store. He still feels this is an accomplishment.
  • When Linkara started injecting his spergy storylines into his reviews, Bores followed suit with some bad storylines of his own.
  • After he finally spend about a year or so rounding out his "grand finale" to his storyline, he made the announcement that he's officially retired the Irate Gamer character, and focusing on his ghost hunting. This retirement lasted only a couple of months.
  • He made a really disgusting Facebook post about Justin Carmical's suicide, essentially saying that he's going to Hell for it.

As for the others washouts that come to mind:
(all of these links are NSFW)

Special mention to Davis Aurini, simply for his @Amud like habit of saying really racist and misogynistic shit and being completely oblivious to how incredibly racist and misogynistic he is.

The best part about his game thing is that, early on, he insisted it was similar to Angry Birds.

He did that after release. The game has nothing to do with Angry Birds in any aspect whatsoever.

So, confession time: I kinda felt sorry for Irate Gamer at first when people started up on the "AVGN ripoff" accusations. He never really responded to the accusations, so I was just like "Sheesh, poor guy's just trying to do his thing and make videos, and people are calling him out like this."

But then he started doing the quoted bullet points, and out went *that* sympathy...

I don't know if they count, but could Smosh be seen as Youtube washouts? Just like The Annoying Orange or Fred they were liked by a lot of people a while ago, but now whenever someone brings up anything about Smosh the reaction will always be negative.
Hell, even now they've jumped on the Let's Play bandwagon and any new content they make is like nothing more than dumb clickbait.
Not saying the stuff they made back then was much better (I mean, all of their content has been pretty cheap in my opinion) but there does seem to be a noticeable drop in quality.

I think smosh could be considered a washout, yes. I was never interested in him(them?) in the first place, so I don't know many details except what you said, and the while "Doesn't show up on the front page nearly as much as he used to" thing.

I still can't believe that The Annoying Orange got a show. and by accident I stumbled across some videos of it doing Let's Plays. Dear god....
