Youtube General thread (formerly Youtube Censorship discussion thread)

How does Youtube determine the bitrate of a video you upload? Do you have any say in that matter?

For instance, I just downloaded a video from Red Letter Media and one from Gamers Nexus. The former is about 1500kbps and the latter is 3000kbps.
Youtube has a set bitrate for each resolution. 480p is higher than 240p, and 4k (2160p) is the highest (which is why it's beneficial to use higher resolutions even if your screen or viewport can't handle it). Some videos have enhanced bitrate options for users with Youtube Premium. My guess would be you downloaded a 4k video from GN and a 1080p video from RLM.

Is this a quiz? You're the ones offering it, you tell me! (Or better yet don't, and also go away forever)

Seems like they're trying to determine what a standard user thinks is actually included in Premium. Except, to send out feelers, they got some jeet who doesn't understand the situation, or English.

I closed it without responding.

they truly cannot understand the very simple fact that those willing to pay for youtube has already done so and the ones who haven't will NEVER pay for youtube...

The pajeets at YT have broken things again.

yt-dlp now names files "youtube video" with the video's ID behind it. e.g this video downloads as "youtube video #SeogeURg-AU [SeogeURg-AU].mp4" instead of "Navy tech discusses decline of repair [SeogeURg-AU].mp4" like it usually would.

GrayJay is also struggling a bit too. I get a bot/signin error, GrayJay waits 4 seconds "Waiting for 4 seconds as required (Async)", then it launches a workaround and the video plays OK after that.

His company was acquired by Google, thanks to Susan.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, by GOD, Susan wont be remembered well by...anyone beyond her cabal.
WTF Youtube, why is everything autodubbed in indian? i wanna die...

I hate this feature, just keep shit in the native language of the video

uBlock Origin is dead on Chrome officially... or is it? While I think, and many would agree that Chrome is for dumb niggercattle or lazy faggots who can't move on (me), there are still ways to reenable uBlock Origin on the latest version of Chrome. Straight from uBlock Origin's devs, here's how you reenable it:

I don't have the meme image, but they showed a blade cabinet labeled "Ad storage" and then one of those craphive basement dweller Pentium 2's covered in cigarette ash with a box fan next to it as "Content storage".

The ad looks better because money.

Okay, i just followed a link in a thread to a YT short. Using Brave on Android, i can't deactivate that absolutely useless auto dub "feature". I can circumvent it on normal videos via switching to desktop site and deactivating it there but this isn't working for Shorts. What a bunch of fucking niggers.

Some pajeet and/or soylatte enthusiast spent a lot of time working on it, why would you want to deprive xem of their treasured KPIs, so they can't get their well-earned promotion this year?

I qued a number of videos to listen to on my drive home and a particular video caught my attention. Apparently, videos don't log views anymore unless users "engage" with the video by commenting, liking or subscribing to a channel through that particular video. Be prepared for a large uptick in videos obnoxiously including something like "views aren't counted unless you engage with this video so like, comment, subscribe and hit that notification bell to boost my content in the algorithm" in the first thirty seconds. If it wasn't overdone before...
