Epic rap battles on Youtube are a style of video on the platform originating from the Epic Rap Battles of History which started in 2010 and is still around today. It works by having historical figures, popular media personalities, and fictional characters go against each other in a combination of nerdcore, battle rap and comedy. Due to the longevity of the concept there are a good number of people who grew up and then took inspiration from Epic Rap Battles of History to create their own match-ups.
