I still don’t understand that hiatus btw, the whole thing makes no sense. Nick hears about the allegations against Tom and immediately decides to announce on stream that the podcast (something most people do not watch or care about) is on hiatus. As if he’s making a point to distance himself. Then after several days of the allegations being made, after Nick covered them on stream, meaning enough time to talk to Tom about the allegations or at least get available podcast members in a call to discuss a response, Vega puts out a long statement on the channel saying basically “we’ll be on hiatus until he responds, if he does at all, I don’t even know, if anyone drops out of the podcast I will too”
As someone who hates the term "fence sitting" and it's modern overuse, no this is an actual factual fence-sitting.
Nick is a fat, greasy rat, and moved pieces around in such a way that he would "win" no matter what ended up happening with Tom.
Tom gets outted as a creep? No problem, you've already established you've distanced yourself.
Tom manages to land on his feet? That's okay too because you can claim you were simply "waiting to see all the evidence."
Nick basically showed up to the game with both team's jerseys stuffed down his pants so he could run to the bathroom and put on whoever came out on top so he could feel like a winner.
It's so clear how intensely Nick hates being on the losing side of any argument or issue.
He is the definition of a fairweather friend. A bandwagonner. He has said multiple times, ON STREAM, that him and Tom were close, and the SECOND things get dicey, he puffs out his chest and starts moving pieces to distance himself from Tom if the ship starts to sink.
I will give Nick the SMALLEST amount of empathy that the allegations against Tom were pretty scummy, but in a situation like that, the reasonable response is "Thats my friend, I need to look into this personally before taking any sort of hard stance" and not immediately start packing your bags and calling an uber before the situations even concluded.
He's a snake more obsessed with his micro-celebrity status.
Again, can't BELIEVE I'm quoting JAR, but he made a good point that Nick feels like a guy who was bullied when he was younger, and has now found himself in a position where he gets to be the bully, and he won't let anyone or anything take that away from him.
