I'm jealous. I didn't end up ordering bulbs because it felt futile when considering the deer.Ding-dong, autumn bulbs are here!
...Why did I buy so many? What was I thinking in February? Only the dead will know respite from these alliums.
I like the color. Is the flavor any different? Also managed to get about a gallon of tomato sauce made from my golden cherry tomato plant. I freaking love making sauce out of cherry tomatoes; the flavor is unbeatable.
The taste is tomato-flavor cranked up to 11. I mean, yes, paste/sauce tomatoes have a superior texture for sauce (high meat-to-water ratio), but the flavor of cherry tomatoes is so much stronger, especially the yellow ones*. Seriously the best sauce ever (even if it is annoying to pick out all the skins). And my nieces were delighted to have weird-colored spaghetti.I like the color. Is the flavor any different?
Congrats. I am jealous. I’ve had a hoya (not sure what variety) for two years now and it grows like crazy but hasn’t bloomed. I feed it now and then but maybe I’m not timing that right. My Hoya carnosa compacta bloomed.
Agreed. I have Citrine cherry maters (the slightly bigger and rain proof Sungold improvement-highly recommended) in my freezer to make ketchup later. Homemade ketchup from cherry maters is da bomb.I freaking love making sauce out of cherry tomatoes; the flavor is unbeatable.
Agreed. Those are probably the most tasteless, worthless, mater going. And the cherry sized reds are a close second.*not the yellow pear tomatoes, though; those suck.
ceramic planters have no fucking reason to be as expensive as they are, especially if they're less than ten gallons.I bought a bunch of small starter plants and some succulents (I know, I don't want to hear it) and was looking for cute, inexpensive pots. I needed like, 20 (I know. I know) and couldn't justify it. I went to pfaltzgraff and ordered a couple dozen clearance appetizer bowls and small cereal bowls along with appetizer plates all on clearance. 60 bucks. I got a diamond drill tip, put the bowls upside down in water and drilled holes in the bottoms. Easy peasy super cute small plant pots.
How do you get your hoya to bloom? Mine is growing okay but I can't get it to bloom. It's a Hoya mindorensis.Ver archivo adjunto 6501703My Hoya carnosa compacta bloomed. I wish I got a good picture earlier, but it has been a few weeks and the bloom isn't as full as it was and a couple of the clusters have fallen off by now.
Holy moly! Great job!Seeing my monsteras come back made me take another progress picture. This time Pandora the pothos, the one who started it all.
September 5th last year some time after repotting vs today, october 15th, so 406 days.
After the repot I thought it would never grow into the new pole and cover it nicely, but here we are...

Do you guys name your plants?
He really is! Perfect name too!I do, although the only one that's stuck is Mawrice's (pic from early this year). It's hard not to anthropomorphize the little guy :
One day I'll add a sundew of some kind to the garden and name it Bruno 'cause of reasons.
Now that he's grown a bit more, I regret putting him in such a narrow stone pot. How am I going to repot him without closing all these traps? Damn you, Past Slurms!!
