My family history isn't very remarkable, but I'm Cuban and Irish. My Cuban side of the family came to the states in the 40's. They were farmers back home so my great grandpa and grandma were really self sufficient. Really chill and humble people. I was lucky to live with them when I was a kid. My great grandpa would grow sugar cane in our backyard and helped me build a chicken pen when I brought a hen home. My great grandma was a bad ass on the harmonica.
They were also amazing cooks. I really liked their rice pudding in particular. I'm kinda bummed I never learned how to cook from them or my grandma, so when my grandma died a couple years ago she kinda took all the family recipes with her because my mom never learned either.
I don't know a goddamn thing about the Irish side of my family though because I never met those people, so I'm really only rooted with my Cuban relatives.
Some of you guys have cool family histories.
