Anyone remember Construx (or something like that?) It was a space vehicle themed building toy where most of the parts were glow-in-the-dark, and it came with this generic yellow astronaut with a blue visor? (I remember tires in the set were transparent)

Also, speaking of space flight, remember when the space shuttle program was there and actually being used frequently? There was no ISS to fly to, so most, if not all, of the manned research and development in space by the USA was done on the shuttle. Nowadays, American astronauts have to hitch hike on Soyuz.
