You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

"Hello, you have reached CVS' automated self-help service. In a few words, please tell us what we can help you with today."
CVS' online system makes no sense. Prescriptions one wants refilled aren't; prescriptions one doesn't need get refilled instead; and refill requests occasionally get lost by the system for good measure. Sadly, I think every other pharmacy has the same issues, so there's little incentive to change to someone "better."

When someone asks you for advice or an opinion, then immediately doesn't believe you/ignores your response.
This is definitely annoying. One time long ago, someone rattled off some symptoms and asked if I thought they should see a doctor. Since I don't play one on TV or elsewhere, I told the person they should do so if the symptoms were that concerning. The response was, "OMG! ARE YOU TRYING TO SCARE ME TO DEATH???!!!" Umm, no, I'm answering the question you asked me. If you didn't want my opinion, don't ask for it.

Thread tax: The people who think this year's election decision has immediately transformed the US into a Nazi-controlled rape culture. None of these people seem to realize that the post-election doompost predictions over the past 20-plus years ever happened. Yet these are the people that claim to be better educated than everyone else. :story:

This is literally why I called yesterday.

They lost my previous request for a refill, and when I tried to ask for it again with their fucktarded self-help service, the thing fucking glitched out, and wouldn't let me.

CVS fucking blows. They call me saying my meds are ready, then most of the time I show up and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Then after finding my meds in the system, they angrily tell me I'm in the wrong line, and I have to sit in a chair and wait for them to fill the meds. It takes forever. And multiple times they have called me trying to give me somebody else's meds. It's no wonder they are going out of business.

>try to find a phone case on Amazon
>it's full of cheap, Chinese dropshipping garbage
>check the website of big box retailers like Best Buy
>the same fucking Chinese bullshit but more expensive
:lossmanjack:
I swear to god, they're just made to be disposable, at this point.

I just search the brand I want to buy and then buy directly from the brand’s website. Any cell phone accessory on Amazon is never anything more than chink bullshit.
Also, the abysmal quality and style of clothes nowadays.
Everything is more or less the fast fashion style where it begins falling apart after a couple of was cycles. I basically have to get my clothes from high end stores these days and then have them tailored.

Going to the doctor's, waiting for at least 30 minutes in the waiting room, and then having to wait for another 30 or more after finally having my name called and being told "the doctor will be with you shortly." Happened twice this year and the first time I was in a hurry.

Has happened to me multiple times, just in the last 2 months! Why bother telling you to arrive early?

Even "quality brands" are fucking trash. Had an Otterbox and part of the rubber insert got ripped off from general use. Oh, and their "warrenty" program still requires you to pay for shipping which, for me, is about the same amount of money as a whole new case. I also really enjoy having a phone case with a card holder, it seems the only ones that exist for my phone are the "folding" kind. It's a fucking nightmare.

One time, they actually called my name pretty quickly, and then I sat alone in doctor's office for like an hour-and-a-half. I literally fell asleep while waiting.

Books written in the present tense to add suspense.

Even worse: the people who prefer books written in the present tense.

I recently switched dentist offices and the new one has had long waits both times I've been there: an extended wait to check out the first time and at least 45 minutes of total waiting the second time from the scheduled time until a hygienist finally showed up.

Why bother telling you to arrive early?
What grinds my gears is the doctor offices that expect up to 48 hours advance notice of cancellation or else they will bill you a hefty cancellation fee. No shows suck and should rightfully be dealt with, but not everyone can cancel off 2 days in advance if something comes up last-second. Meanwhile, we have to arrive early to fill out paperwork and then wait indefinitely. I get that emergencies and unexpected shit happen, but would be nice to be told upon check-in that appointments are running behind. - or at least get a text about it since many offices will text you ad nauseum about your next scheduled appointment.

I had an appointment that went relatively fast. All that was left was for the doctor to come in, look at the results of my tests, and send me on my way. I waited so long that it sounded like all of the outside noise abruptly stopped -- making me wonder if they closed for the day and locked me in since I was one of the last appointments for the day. I ended up having to cancel a time-sensitive meeting with someone else I had planned for afterwards because of the extended wait to see the doctor and check out.

Thread tax: Companies that block access to customers/clients using a VPN when those same people are encouraged to use one for better security. I had a company send me an email to download and submit time-sensitive renewal paperwork only to discover by chance they disallow the download when using a VPN.

Having to listen to peoples vacation stories. I'm happy you went and had fun, but I really don't give a shit how nice the hotel was, and which stop over flights you had, and what food you ate. Every vacation story sounds exactly the same anyway.

I've probably said it before but discussing sports with people online. They don't understand player types, player roles in a team or line, or advanced stats and get basic objective facts wrong.

I have this colleague who's a depressed, always on the edge of a breakdown kinda guy, who often, nah pretty much always walks around with a face that makes you think his family was tortured to death in front of his eyes, and would often sigh loudly so everyone knows he's having a bad day, and every conversation with him could devolve into a monologue of self pity and complaints.

It's been going on for a few years now, an although he mellowed out a little, i still try not to speak with him unless absolutely necessary, and he made me hate the sentence: "So how's your day been?" or "how are you holding up?" since that would lead towards those monologues.

Also, diversity in games, specifically in settings like Historical/mythical/fantastical Europe, where a lot of games have the demographic make-up of modern L.A., with no explanation of how the hell that would work realistically, and besides any in-game excuse one could give for it being this way, knowing that the actual reason is pandering to a certain group or that it's because that has been normalized to such a degree that it has become a standard thing now, really annoys me, and i've become very sensitive to it to the point of not wanting to play certain games that otherwise are great games.

Being constantly harassed for money by the homeless every time I leave the house.

No, your strung out ass who can barely put together a sentence is not “just looking for some help to get breakfast” I already know even if I offered to buy you a McMuffin you’d have a shit fit because I didn’t just give you money to get your next fent fix.

Fuck off and leave me alone.
