CAIRO (Sputnik) - Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, has carried out a test flight of a hypersonic missile with high destructive capability and is preparing to add these missiles to its military arsenal, a military source close to the movement has told Sputnik.

"Missile forces of the movement have successfully tested a missile that can reach speeds of up to Mach 8 [10,000 kilometers per hour or 6,200 miles per hour] and is powered by solid fuel. Yemen plans to begin manufacturing it for use in attacks in the Red and Arabian Seas and the Gulf of Aden, as well as against targets in Israel," the source said.

At the same time as the hypersonic missile test, the armed forces in northern Yemen upgraded their missiles and drones, having modified the explosive warheads to double their destructive power, after a test that lasted three months, the source added.

Last Thursday, Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi spoke about the movement's efforts to produce hypersonic missiles, saying that "our enemies, friends and our people will see a level of achievement of strategic importance that will place our country in terms of its capabilities among the few countries in this world."

He then said that Yemen's forces have used new weapons in recent operations in the Red and Arabian Seas, which "surprised the United States and the United Kingdom." He added that the movement attacked 61 vessels and a military ship since the Palestinian movement Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

Yemen's Houthis said in November 2023 that they would attack any Israeli-linked ships passing through the Red Sea in retaliation for the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip. They have since launched dozens of attacks on ships in the region, prompting retaliatory airstrikes from the UK and the US.

Yemen is sub third world, they're like a 4th world nation, so everyone knows where this shit is coming from.
Why is Iran so damn determined to get itself glassed lately?

Surely Bush Biden the CIA can find a way to claim these are WMD's, right? The Saudis' coalition is already in place, what's a couple dozen more nations to a coalition of the willing?

At most it's a PR nothingburger meant for internal propaganda.

The Saudis' coalition is already in place
yeah and they have probably pound for pound the most incompetent army in the entire world. The "opposition government" that saudi arabia and the UAE backed barely exists by now and is ran out of a hotel in riyadh. The houthis are essentially the yemeni government at this point and the only thing still standing opposition to their rule are AQAP, the guys who tried blowing up the underwear bomb over Detroit in 2009.

What will Washington even gonna do, airstrike them? Yeah I bet they totally aren't used to that after living under saudi bombardment for nearly 10 years. And if you think we can just send a bunch of zogbots in there to push them around I'd like to remind you they have 32 million people and the third highest per capita gun ownership rate in the world, next to us and the falklands. It would be a fucking nightmare trying to subdue them. Fellow mutts thinking we can just send 150 navy seals into Sana'a and take out the houthis are way too high on shitty war movies to know how anything works, pure imperial hubris.
They realized they're dealing with the US of Anno Floydus and not the Bush era US
The Bush administration expanded their sphere of influence when they gave Iraq to them lmao. That's why Obama was so dead set on taking out Syria and the Houthis and started backing the Saudi campaign against them, the foreign policy establishment wanted to overcompensate for the blowback of the Iraq war by undermining Iran's sphere of influence in other nations. This, of course, culminated in even more blowback in the form of ISIS becoming a thing. Oh and then of course after that happens he was forced to turn his focus away from owning Assad to getting rid of isis, which included giving billions in weapons to Iraq which then went to Iranian proxy militias like the PMF and Kataib Hezbollah. The shift in focus also essentially allowed Russia to win the war for Assad and keep him in power, which is why Trump finally cancelled Timber Sycamore when he got into office.

I swear it's like every time we try fucking with Iran and undermining their sphere of influence they just get stronger, not a good indicator of things to come if we end up going to war with them directly. Mullahchads just can't stop winning! :story:

because they know biden hasn't done shit and won't do shit. I mean we're 63 days into the 1 day special military operation where the epic coalition of 20+ nations epically owns these backwards goat fucking islamist militants and last I checked not only did the majority of our "allies" bitch out of sending anything, Yemen is upping the attacks nonstop.
